Owner's Review
This rack can do it ALL! The design is pretty simple but it is rock solid. As you can see from the pictures above, you can HANG from this rack. That is always a great sign and really makes me comfortable storing my precious skis on this rack. My race skis are not light by any stretch of the imagination but I know this rack will have no problem storing them. The design is unique that you can stack multiple sets of skis on the same rung. Most ski racks, especially as you need to store more skis get extremely long and you end up with a rack stretching 6 feet or more. Because the arms are longer you will have no problem storing this Pontoons or other Fat Powder Skis until the next dump.
I love that this rack is incredibly VERSATILE. If you don’t have many sets of skis I would still recommend this rack because as an experienced skier I know you just seem to accumulate skis and you will need somewhere to store them. IF you are able to resist the urge of getting multiple pairs of skis this rack has many other functions and is a great place to hang and store just about anything!
The one thing I would caution you with is that to get the very high load storage capacity out of this rack you MUST fasten this rack to the studs of your wall. Drywall anchors will NOT work here. The rack itself weighs 11lbs (solid steel isn’t light). So secure it to the wall and get the most out of this RACK!

FAQ
-
Q:Are the rack arms covered in something? If not, what keeps them from scratching the skis and snow boards?
A: The Home Utility Ski Rack is a great rack. It is made from steel and then coated with a very durable epoxy based paint. The makes the surface smooth enough that it wont scratch your skis. We find that is works out even better than some type of foam padding. The trouble foam padding is in the long run it gets worn especially with skis in this orientation.
Q: Does this ski rack need to be anchored to studs... Is this pre-drilled on 16" centers to facilitate mounting?
A: Yes it needs to be anchored to studs and the rack is drilled for studs 16" on center. Since it is built from steel it has some weight to it plus 8 sets of skis mean you need to anchor this rack to the studs. It is drilled with 16" on center holes to match up with most housing studs. If this doesn't fit your needs you can mount a horizontal piece of solid wood to the walls and then attach the rack to this wood backer.
