Product Description

three-board-stand-up-paddle-board-rack.jpgSolid Steel Stand Up Paddle Board Rack. This SUP Rack is strong and durable as well as affordable. The Stand Up Paddle Board Storage Rack can store up to 3 paddle boards. It comes with 2 rack sides that can be mounted at any distance apart to accommodate all different lengths of boards. This storage rack can also work for surfboards, windsurfers, and more.

This SUP Board Rack is designed to hold almost any type stand up paddleboard. Each rack arm is 27" long which allows SUP boards up to 40" wide to be stored. There is also generous spacing between each rack level - 11.5 inches. That large spacing makes this SUP rack great for use with flat water, inflatable, surf, and racing paddleboards. That space also makes it possible for you to keep your SUP's fins on for storage - which often not the case for racks similar to this. This rack is versatile and can also be used to store surfboards, longboards, and wakeboards. We've also seen customers create a shelf out of one of the unused rack levels and use it to store all their SUP gear. Each rack level is designed to support up to 50lbs! The limitation is often more so your mounting surface rather than the rack itself. In general, it is best to keep the total rack weight to under 75lbs. If you have it anchored to studs or another solid surface, you could probably store over 75lbs but you would need to make a judgement call.

This paddle board rack is built with removable arms, so when you are not using it you can take the arms off for space saving. This SUP Rack also features a multi-stage rust prevention process that can stand up to moisture. This is crucial if you live near the beach or if you throw your board in the rack when it is still wet.   We love this rack and think it looks great - feel free to use it indoors, in the garage, or on the patio or outdoors in fresh water locations. Each arm is padded with high density foam that protects your paddle board from any scratches while in the storage rack.

We also carry this rack in the smaller, 2-SUP version: Double SUP Rack

  • Length of base pieces: 33"
  • Width of base pieces: 2"
  • Length of arms: 27"
  • Thickness of foam padding: .25"
  • Diameter of the arms/tubes: 1"
  • 11.5" spacing between arms
  • Distance between the mounting holes on the base plates: 12.75"
  • Angle of arms: 90°
  • Weight limit per level = 50 lbs
  • Total weight limit = 75 lbs
  • Fits nearly every SUP and longboard
sup-rack-dimension.jpg

This SUP Rack is built like a tank!  It is solid steel and super heavy duty.  If you have a lot of heavy paddle boards to store - this is your rack.  It is actually priced very reasonably for how well built it is.  I love how compact it stores your paddle boards.  Most of us don't have tons of extra space around our house or garage to store all our SUPs.  This will get 3 stand up paddle boards in a 33 inch vertical space, talk about efficient use of space.  The "rack sides" are also independent so you can mount them to whatever distance best fits your quiver.  If you have really long boards you can mount them further apart or if you want to stack a couple surfboards and longboards as well you can keep them closer together.  If you are a SUP enthusiast you really need this rack to properly store all your boards.

This SUP rack is also great for businesses.  We have sold many to rental shops all along the coast and on lakes everywhere.  It is also great for retail shops that need to store stock in a compact area.  We have even supplied an army base to store their recreational equipment.

Ride on,

Great to finally get the board off the garage floor. Solid rack, easy to install. Only thing that could have been added was suggested spacing in instructions. I placed racks +/- 6' apart for my 12' board but am wondering if I should have placed them closer in case we get a smaller board.

Very sturdy. We have two 36" wide 11 ft boards and they worked perfectly. Easy to assemble. Plenty of room in between for fins and other accessories. They sit horizontal which allows you to mount them higher for easy loading and unloading. The heavy foam pads protect the boards. Nice finish. Came right away. I have another place to store other items if i choose as i bought the three rack for a few more dollars. Thanks, glad I didnt buy some of the other brands on the market.

This worked as I was able to keep the boards off the floor and out of the way. We have two boards so the third rack is being used for our paddles and hanging our PFD's. Nothing negative just a thought about the third rack, it would be very handy to have an option for a shorter rack, half the length of the other two, that would attach in the same manner. Our paddles don't need the full length and that would save my shoulder from many future bruises when walking in the aisle beside the car and the boards. I have them mounted above car roof level. I could cut the third rack but I may be getting another board so I want to keep it.
Overall, a good product.

I initially purchased vertical racks for our 3 new boards, but quickly found out that these racks were not going to work on one wall. I had more horizontal room to play with, so I found this product online and it looked promising. I was a bit concerned regarding the weight load max that was listed, but read some comments that stated that depending upon how you hang (ie, studs), you should be ok with more than 2 for the rack. The order arrived quickly, I installed the racks exactly where I wanted them to go and was able to secure all 3 of our boards with zero issues. We have a 12.5', 11.5' and an 11' board - totaling 76 lbs. Couldn't be happier with the product. Thanks.

A very well built, sturdy rack. Extremely easy to install. If I could change two things about it, I would first shorten the vertical distance between rack levels to 8" so that the entire rack with boards would fit on a garage wall underneath a sliding garage door track and leave more space for a car underneath. Second, I would make the cushioning foam on the arms out of a less "grippy" material, and extend it the length of the arm to facilitate loading and unloading boards.

Great rack for SUPs and longboards

Rating:5

We had to do a little research as to how we were going to properly anchor the rack in the concrete block walls of our garage. After speaking to a few experts at Lowes we ended up using 1/4" Tapcon screws just over 2" long. So far so good. We've got 2 SUP boards and 2 longboards on the rack and it hasn't budged. The SUP on the lowest rack is 12' long and weighs about 50lbs. Our garage is finally getting more organized! Easy to use rack system, just make sure you take the time to measure the distance properly for the type of boards you will be hanging. We used a magnetic level on the side of the racks as we were hanging them so that they would be absolutely straight.

The only neutral feedback is that I wish the instructions had more detail on the type of anchors recommended for different wall types. This would've saved us a few trips to Lowes. Also, recommendations on the spacing of the two bars would've been nice. I believe we ended up spacing them 3'6" apart.

We had to make a quick purchase to solve a storage problem for our SUP's and the Store Your Board option worked great! We did go above the recommended total weight but felt the rack was of sturdy construction and we anchored into studs for secure mounting.

Heavy Duty SUP Rack!

This thing is Heavy Duty! I have a 11'6" and my wife has a 10'6" and they are both pretty heavy boards. I mounted this rack for my paddle boards in my garage, I just needed somewhere to store them when they were at home. Up until I was using this rack I just laid them on their side against the wall, needless to say that didn't work out so well. When I came across this 3 board rack, I thought it was super cheap compared to a lot of the other SUP racks. Now that I have it mounted I can confirm it is super solid and has no problem holding out paddle boards, and I actually use the bottom brackets to hold some wood

Cheap and Functional - my kind of product!!!!

Love this SUP rack! I got one to put in my garage (its the only place long enough to store my SUP board). installation was pretty easy and it really cleaned up my garage and I feel like my boards are much safer now. I have 2 SUP boards and then i also put my 9'6" longboard on the top rung and it worked great.

I looked around and for the price this is a STEAL! I got some other skateboard racks from StoreYourBoard and I liked them so I thought I would try them for a SUP rack and it worked out!

Thanks

Q:
Is this 3 SUP rack available with a smaller distance between the rack levels? 7" would be ideal.

A:
Unfortunately this 3 SUP Rack is not available with smaller distance between the levels. If this level spacing does not fit your needs I would recommend buying multiple single SUP racks that you can mount individually and space them at any desired distance.

I would recommend either this single level SUP rack or this premium paddleboard rack.

Q:
You state that the total weight for the rack is 75 lbs; however, it can carry three SUP boards that average 27-29 lbs each. Please explain why the 2 SUP rack and the 3 SUP rack have the same weight rating?

A:
This SUP rack is available in two and three level versions, but the overall weight limitation for either version, as recommended by the manufacturer, is a total of 75 lbs. These are very sturdy racks, but how much weight they can hold is going to be affected by how well they are mounted, and that weight guideline is something to keep in mind overall. While each individual level can hold up to 50 lbs, it is recommended that you store lighter items on the top or middle levels, so you aren't using either of these racks to store more than that total recommended weight limit. The three tier rack is basically giving you an additional level to work with for your board storage needs, distributing that weight over the rack's levels.

Q:
Will this rack stand up to being mounted outside, exposed to year around weather?

A:
This SUP rack is made of solid steel, not stainless, so it is not rust-proof, however it has been treated with a multi-stage rust prevention process that can stand up to some moisture. For some areas, this prevention process might be enough to help it weather the elements, but if you are near salt-water, and it would be exposed all the time, it may start to weaken from the elements. It is otherwise a very sturdy and economical rack, and many people do use it outdoors, or semi-outdoors.

However, for some locations, it would probably be best to consider another rack option that is meant for the outdoors, such as this double-SUP rack that holds two boards, which has been powder-coated for outdoor use and is recommended by the manufacturer as being able to withstand the same, or this indoor-outdoor single SUP rack that is made out of stainless steel, so will withstand outdoor use. Another option for use all year round outdoors is this single board SUP rack that is made from a reinforced nylon-glass filled resin product, so it will not rust.

Q:
Can this be mounted to rock and/or brick wall?

A:
Our triple paddleboard rack could be mounted to a concrete or brick wall, but you would need to purchase brick/masonry anchors to do so, from anywhere that you buy hardware (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.), as it ships with standard mount hardware only. You can find some additional general guidelines about mounting wall and ceiling racks here

Q:
Will the top arm support an upside-down kayak with 2 paddle boards underneath?

A:
Our triple SUP rack is not going to be an ideal solution for your kayak. The shape of the kayak will not sit well on that top arm and not be properly supported on this rack. So you might want want to consider the double version of this wall rack to hold your two sups, and a separate rack for your kayak, such as some of the options found here. Or even go with this 3 board SUP rack, since its a good deal, and one level could hold other gear or another board down the line, and then another rack for the kayak.

Q:
We will use this outdoors near a lake. Will the padded arms hold up to the elements, or can we remove them for the winter months when we won't be using the boards and will store them in the garage?

A:
This triple SUP rack is made with a rust-prevention process, that makes it suitable for outdoor use, though more ideally suited for use in non-salt water areas. So if you are on a fresh water lake, these are fine racks to use outdoors, even year round. They are not stainless steel though, and so they will weather eventually from continuous usage outdoors over time, though not as quickly as in a salt water area. The padding will hold up for some time but it will eventually weather. Bringing the removable arms in during winter would prolong them and the padding, and/or bringing the entire rack in, so that would be a good option to get more years of service out of the racks.

Q:
How far apart should you place the racks? My SUPs are 12 feet long and I was planning to place them 8 feet apart to take advantage of the existing wood above the garage door pulley and open/close track.

A:
We usually go by the rule of 3rds or 4ths to figure out where to mount the side arms on a rack. Meaning, normally, to hold a 12 foot board, it would be best to have the rack arms set up at either 3 or 4 feet from the nose and tail of your boards, so that 4-6 feet of your board is in the middle of the rack. That being said, mounting the side rack arms on this triple SUP rack at 8 feet apart should be okay. You do want to mount the rack arms into studs, so you usually have to adjust where to put the side arms based on where your studs land. We have this installation and spacing guideline that may give you some more ideas to help you plan what will work for your space and boards.

Q:
Are the bars set at right angles, or can they be set at an angle, e.g. 30 degrees?

A:
Our triple SUP rack's arms are at a a right/90 degree angle -- there is not an option to incline them or set them at an angle on this particular rack. This three level wooden rack has arms that can be set at any of these angles: 45, 50, or 55 degrees. There is also this single board metal rack that can has removable and adjustable arms, that can be set at either 5 or 15 degrees. There are also some double on-rail racks for two boards, that provide 45 degree angled storage for consideration, if that is your preference.

Q:
What is the recommended distance between the mounted base pieces?

A:
We talk a little about this in our online installation guide which has several mounting tips for reference. The considerations are finding your wall studs first, and thenbasically you want to divide the length of your boards into 3rds or 4ths, to figure out where the arms are best sited...you basically want a 1/3rd to 1/2 of the board's length in the middle (between the side arms), with enough on each side of the arms that it is properly supported.

For some examples (and there pictures shown in our installation guide) for 9 foot boards, you could put rack arms about 3 feet in, on each side (so the weight is evenly distributed).
For a 6 foot board, you could divide it into 4ths and place the rack arms at about 1.5 feet in on each side leaving about 1/2 the board in the middle of the arms, and 1/4th of the board on either side.

For a multiple board rack like this SUP rack, you then have to work with where the studs are - so find those first - but after that, your most important factor is to not space the arms out two wide apart for your smallest/shortest board!

Q:
Can this rack be used to store SUPs vertically?

A:
I haven't seen this 3 SUP rack set up ever for vertical storage of SUPs. It could possibly work - the tail of your boards would need to rest on the floor, and then the upper portion would be leaning against the arms of the rack for support. As such, you may only need to use one of the two base pieces to support three boards, so the wall rack set could possibly hold up to 6 boards in a vertical position. That would depend on how much support the boards would need in a vertical position. I cannot guarantee it will work for vertical storage, but it is something someone could try out, if they understood it wasn't the use the rack was manufactured for.

Q:
