Product Description

The 2-Kayak Freestanding Rack is part of Suspenz's premium line of freestanding kayak racks. This particular kayak rack is a complete kit that comes ready to store 2 kayaks in Suspenz's Jay series of kayak suspension racks. To reiterate, this is a cost-saving bundled package of Suspenz's freestanding frame and the Jay series of racks. Please read below to learn more about the great features of Suspenz's freestanding racks as well as the Deluxe cradle in particular.

Suspenz Freestanding Storage Solutions
Modular, expandable, and high quality are the best way to describe Suspenz's line of premium freestanding storage racks. The freestanding racks consist of 2 basic components: a freestanding frame (U-shaped base support and a vertical support post) and the particular rack you desire for your boat or SUP. The system is designed such that the freestanding frame is a generic component that you can choose to add any type of Suspenz rack to. Suspenz designed (almost) all of their kayak, canoe, and SUP racks to mount directly on to the freestanding frame so that you can mix and match whatever racks you need for your particular storage needs.

As mentioned above, the freestanding racks are also expandable. If you have the standard freestanding frame (holds up to 2 boats or SUPs), then you can expand it to hold up to 6 boats or SUPs! This makes the Suspenz freestanding rack an excellent storage solution for the future because it can expand with your boat or SUP collection. Another great feature about the freestanding racks is the availability of add-on accessories. For instance, we offer caster kits, paddle holders, shelf brackets, and more that all are designed to attach to the freestanding frame.

Jay Rack
The Jay Kayak Wall Rack is an affordable and secure way to store your kayaks up off the floor. The Jay rack is an unique kayak rack because it will store your boat with zero pressure points. Made by Suspenz, this rack includes their exclusive Cradling Strap System (CSS) which is effectively a suspension strap system. These suspension straps conform to your kayak's geometry and are what allow this rack to not create any pressure points on your boat - awesome!

One of the best features about the Jay rack is the integrated safety strap. Built into each rack arm is an adjustable and easy-to-use safety strap that is used to keep your kayak securely in the rack. This strap provides peace of mind for your favorite boat and prevents your kayak from accidentally falling out. The Jay rack's monolithic, tubular steel construction will ensure a long lifetime and allows you to store a variety of size and shape kayaks! With a weight capacity of 100lbs, this rack is suitable for most whitewater, sit-on-tops, and smaller recreational kayaks.

As an option, we offer a combination kit of casters and an adjustable crossbar. The casters are designed to replace the leveling feet and integrate directly into the rack. Each kit includes 4 locking and 4 non-locking casters, so you can prevent your rack from rolling away. The crossbar is adjustable in length from 4ft to 7ft and connects the two freestanding towers. Together, the casters and crossbar add stability and mobility to your freestanding kayak rack. This is our most recommended add-on for Suspenz's freestanding racks - you will enjoy you rack that much more with this combo kit. We've bundled them together to save you money and because you would never want to use casters without a crossbar - its just too unruly.

This product has a one year warranty from the manufacturer.

perfect for storing a kayak and SUP

ran out of wall space so this rack is perfect for storing a kayak and a 16' SUP on the floor. I didn't get the rollers but it slides easily without them but only if we want it to. The instructions for putting the items on weren't great so took a few tries to get them to hang without putting weight on the racks and keep the weight on the black straps. But works perfectly after a little trial and error.

5 1
What is the difference between the 2-Boat Suspenz EZ rack stand and the 2-Boat Suspenz Jay Rack Stand? How do I know which is best for me?
Both of these rack systems are made by the same manufacturer, and are excellent freestanding choices for storing kayaks and SUPs.

The"EZ rack" has EZ arms to hold the kayaks: they are padded, and the kayak lies on its side on the padding, then a safety strap holds the kayak on the arm. The padding will offer protection for the hull of your kayak.

The "Jay Rack" system has J-shaped rack arms to hold the Kayaks; the Jay Racks offer even more protection for a Kayak or SUP. The board or kayak is suspended in the suspension cradling system in a Jay Rack, on its side, which prevents any pressure points from occurring and damaging a board or kayak over time -- so generally the Jay Racks are a good way to protect your investment in your kayaks when you are not out on them.

So the main difference between the two different stands is the difference in the type of rack arms they have to hold the kayaks, though both sets of rack arms have the same load capacity, each set of arms can hold boats or boards up to 125 lbs.

Otherwise, they are the same modular freestanding system, and both have an optional set of casters and a stabilizing crossbar that can be purchased as an add-on, should you wish to have the ability to move the stand around.
Can the rack be anchored to the deck?
Our 2 boat freestanding kayak rack unfortunately does not mount to a dock. It is meant to be a freestanding rack that can be easily moved around, especially if you add the wheels option. This link will take you to our kayak dock racks that can be mounted to a dock. This rack is another Suspenz rack similar to the model you asked about and the installation guide shows how you could secure it to the dock. One thing to note about that rack, it is marine grade, meaning it is safe to use in saltwater environments, that would be another thing you would want to think about when looking at buying a dock rack.
I would be interested in the units if I could bolt them directly to a piling. I would not need the free standing part.
If you don't need a freestanding rack system, then you might want to consider these kayak cradles that can be mounted to your pilings. They are galvanized, so well suited for outdoor use.
I like the look of the J-rack system and I think it would work to store a rowing shell on. Can I order it with just one rack? I plan to place the rack in shallow water and the bottom one would be submerged and useless.
We can have this system customized with different configurations - just contact us directly to inquire on what is possible. That being said, I can't guarantee how well it will work partially submerged in shallow water; there could be a variety of issues, and we couldn't guarantee how well the stand would hold up to that use, as it could be subject to erosion, and it may not be stable. The Jay Rack Cradles do seem like they could work for a rowing shell, but I wanted to mention the other concerns over using this system in water, which would not be recommended.
