Airports and flying are a hassle to begin with let alone if you plan to fly with your longboard. If you're anything like us at StoreYourBoard, then your boards are precious to you. I know I won't trust TSA to handle my bags gently, so I plan accordingly and properly pack my longboard beforehand.
Fits up to 2 Longboards. This surfboard coffin travel bag is 5.9" deep and is intended to hold two longboard surfboards. Generally, the width of your two longboards, when added together, need to add up to less than 5.9" to fit in this bag. But don't forget to consider how your boards will be packed - what will be above, beneath, and between them (clothes, towels, etc.) - when you're considering how your surfboards will fit in this bag.
This longboard bag is great for airline use for a bunch of reasons. First, its outer shell is a thick 600D polyester that is rugged and won't rip or get caught easy. Second, it comes with a soft foam divider that allows you to safely separate two boards if you plan on traveling with more than one board. Additionally, the outside of the bag has three compression straps to keep your board(s) from rattling around inside your bag. These compression straps are just like the ones you would find on high end camping backpacks - they make a huge difference.
More great features of this bag include its detachable shoulder strap. You can use the strap when you are getting to your terminal and to your car, but you can also take it off so TSA doesn't throw a fit about lose straps. Every bag also comes with a really nifty internal wax, fin, and miscellaneous storage pocket. This is great for keeping whatever little gear you need to bring along with you on your trip in a neatly organized place.
We recommend this bag if you plan on doing any airline travel with your board. Looking for a 2 Longboard Travel Bag with Wheels?
Good bag. Well built!
Overall solid construction
First time I've arrived at my travel destination with no board(s) damaged. So far so good!
Shipping longboard that's 10' 6", it fit into the specified bag. I could imagine two longboards fitting snug, but the fin sections would be difficult. It has many extra pockets and straps for securing the boards, and carrying. The padding is not too thin, and the exterior seems tough enough to handle some tossing around. Be prepared to wrap any fins that might poke out, the bag will not store the fins within - instead it has a zipper slot that allows the fins to poke out, hence "top load only". Definitely not one-time-use, too expensive.
