Product Description

The Compact 2-Bike Hitch Rack is an awesome bike carrier that folds down to take up almost no space. This is a well engineered and well thought out bike rack that makes transporting your bikes easy and stress free. The rack holds your bikes steady through the use of a center support arm and contoured wheel wells. In the middle of this rack is a U-shaped center support arm that is used to secure your bike's frame. It can easily fold up and down to allow you to fold the entire assembly tight against the back of your vehicle. The contoured wheel wells provide a 4-point contact system that is used to keep your bike from moving around. Provided with the rack are (6) 18" tie down straps that let you secure your bike tires tightly to the wheel wells. Additionally, there is one 12ft tie down strap included that you can use to wrap around all both your bikes and the rack for extra peace of mind.

This bike rack is a "tray" or "tire mount" style hitch mount bike rack which makes it fairly unique in the world of hitch mount bike racks. This tire mount style rack supports your bike from underneath the tires as opposed to from the bike's frame. This style of bike carrier offers a few advantages. First off, most people find them easier to use because there is no delicate balancing act required to get your bike put in place - you simply just drop it into the wheel slots. The other advantage to a tray or tire mount style hitch rack is that it can accommodate a wider variety of bike types. Frame style carriers sometimes only work with bikes that have a straight upper frame tube, but the wheel mount style can hold more than that. Beach cruisers, women's bikes, and many other different bikes have slanted or curved upper frames which make them a pain to get in a frame style carrier.

This 2-Bike rack is super compact! Take a look at the photos and see how tightly this rack can fold up. This makes it convenient to leave on your car because you don't have some big piece of metal protruding far out of the back of your car or truck. Additionally, it is light enough and folds up small enough that it is easy to remove and stow away in your garage or home.

Q:
Is there a compatibility checker to make sure this will fit with a particular car?
A:
The manufacturer of our bike hitch does not have a vehicle fit guide available for this rack. The only guidelines or specifications we have for fit are the following:

1) Fits 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers; and
2) Fits Class 2, 3, and 4 hitches

So your vehicle has to have a hitch receiver that is either 1-1/4th or 2".

Additionally, the instruction manual, which we have posted her on our listing, says the rack is not suitable for RVs, 5 wheels or travel trailers.
Q:
I have an FJ Cruiser with a spare tire on the back that protrudes further than the hitch receiver. How long is the arm on this and would it fit around the spare like that?
A:
This bike hitch sticks out 30" from your hitch - so that is the available room you have to work around. I am not sure if that helps give clarify whether it will work around your spare tire or not, but hopefully it might give you an idea.
Q:
Would I be able to drop the rack with or without the bikes to open the back doors of my van (Dodge Promaster)?
A:
Thisbike rackwouldnotwork for your Dodge ProMaster Van. You would need a hitch receiver for the rack system to start, but even if you have one on your van, while the bike rack folds up tight, when not in use holding bikes, your particular van doors would not clear it, and would not clear it at all with the bikes on it.
Q:
Does thishook up to the hitch on a truck/car? I need a bike mount rack that will attach to the hitch of my truck.
A:
Yes, our compact 2 bike hitch mount is meant to attach to a hitch on a car or truck. It fits Class 2, 3, and 4 hitches that are either 1 1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. So if the hitch receiver on your truck is either a 1 1/4" or 2" receiver, it should work.
Q:
What weight capacity per bike?
A:
The manufacturer of our compact 2 bike hitch only lists the maximum capacity of the bike rack, at 112 pounds, but not the maximum for each bike. You would want to probably keep the weight evenly distributed if possible, but if you do have one bike that is much heavier then the other, as long as the rack is securely mounted to the vehicle you should be fine if the total weight of both bikes does not exceed 112 pounds.
