The Detachable Roof Crossbars are a great way to turn your vehicle's bare roof into a general purpose storage system. The crossbars are designed to mount on vehicle roofs that don't have any existing factory or aftermarket crossbars already installed. These crossbars are the perfect choice if you're looking to carry lumber, bed frames, mattresses, etc. Additionally, these crossbars provide a basis to attach sport-specific car racks to. For instance, you can attach kayak, SUP, etc type racks to these crossbars to transform your vehicle's naked roof into a complete sport transportation system! These crossbars ar 48" - if you're looking for something slightly larger or have an SUV or truck then we recommend the Removable Crossbars.
The Detachable Roof Crossbars are universal in design which means they'll fit most any roof design out there. The one catch is that it will only work for 4-door vehicles because of how the strapping system works. These crossbars are attached to your vehicle in two different ways. The first way is the 4 mounting feet that provide the vertical support and serve to lift the crossbar off your roof. These vertical supports have rubberized, non-marring feet that will protect your roof and will prevent any unwanted slipping. The second way these crossbars are held down is with a pair of tie down straps. Each tie down strap is attached to the support feet and is designed to loop through the inside of your car. The straps are adjustable to fit a variety of sized vehicles and provide a stable means to secure down the crossbars. The tie down straps are connected with gator clips which make this rack easy to add and remove making it a great temporary crossbar system. The crossbar itself is made from steel that is designed to handle up to 150 lbs of gear!

Does this include the crossbars and feet?
A:
Yes, our detachable roof crossbars includes the two (2) crossbars, the four (4) feet, as well as two (2) straps. You will need a four-door vehicle to use these, as the straps loop through the inside of the car through the four doors.

Will this support two kayaks?
A:
This removable universal crossbar set holds a capacity of up to 150 lbs, but for a kayak, you may not be able to securely fit two kayaks lying flatnext to each on top of your roof using this system, and are not going to want to stack kayaks on top of each other for transportation. If you have two very narrow kayaks you may be able to secure them lying flatnext to each on your rooftop, usingtie-downs, but you may want to take a look at the kayaks and your vehicle's roof, to picture what that would look first. Alternately, you could attach kayak cradles, such as these double-kayak onesor this J-rack to the detachable crossbars, to hold two kayaks on their sides.
Q:
Does this roof rack can be used for 2-door Model Cars?

Unfortunately, these detachable cross bars don't work for 2 door vehicles. You need 4 doorways for the straps to run through, under your car's roof, in order for the weight load they will carry to be evenly distributed and spaced securely.

Will this rack fit a 2012 Nissan Titan Crew Cab-V-8?- 4 door. I would use this with my Trac Rac system for the box/ Unfortunately the Trac Rac does not sit high enough so the canoe front bows and hit the roof, thus this is where your product comes in. Also how thick are the poles?

Yes, these detachable crossbars should work for your 4 door truck; note, they are also available in a larger size, seen here: detachable crossbars for trucks/SUVs. The difference is just the truck/SUV one is a longer crossbar - the shorter one is 48" long and the truck/SUV one adjusts between 44" and 60" long.They both support up to 150 lbs, so that would be something you would want to consider for your intended use (the boat & any racks or other items placed on the crossbars should be no more than 150 lbs total). Both crossbars are 1" in diameter. Either should work for your truck, as long as you have the 4 doorways to run the straps through.

Does this work on a 2008 Chevy HHR ?
A:
Based on the product specifications, each bar is 48" long and would be compatible with your 2008 Chevy HHR as long as your vehicle has 4 doors.
If your HHR has only two doors this product will not function correctly and we would not recommend it.

I am traveling cross country on a 2015 Toyota Camry LE. Will this be good to hold a few luggage if we placed waterproof bag?
A:
These detachable bars are an option for a 4 door vehicle that doesn't have crossbars installed on it; it appears your model Toyota has 4 doorways, so the basic system would work, as the straps need to run through 4 doorways. It can then support up to 150 lbs, if properly installed; it does not come with tie-down straps, so you would need to find tie-downs to secure items (your luggage...) to the cross bar system. You may or may not want to consider some pads as well, to protect the items on top of the crossbars, such as ones seen here: https://www.storeyourboard.com/paddleboard-roof-rack-pads. The pads may not be necessary, but you would need something like the tie-downs to secure your luggage & waterproofing on top of the crossbars, and you would want to make sure everything was fastened down well and properly for a long trip.

I have a Honda 2017 civic and 2 paddleboards, will this do the job?
A:
These detachable/removable crossbars will work for your 4 door Honda Civic; the straps that attach them to your car will run through the 4 doorways. And the crossbars, once properly installed, can support a load up to 150 lbs, so in that respect would be able to support a couple of SUPs -- but you would need additional tie-downs to attach the SUPs to the crossbars, as those are not included with the detachable crossbars. Alternately, you could look at something like this removable 2 SUP transportation rack that works for cars with or without a roof rack (as long as the vehicle has 4 doorways), that would hold two SUPs, and you wouldn't need the detachable crossbars. Will this work for a canoe on a 2013 Nissan Altima?

These detachable crossbars could work to transport a canoe, but you would need additional tie-downs or a canoe rack to secure the canoe to the crossbars, as the crossbars are just that. They will hold a load up to 150 lbs, so that should work for a canoe, and it appears your Nissan model has four doorways, so the bars would work for the crossbars, as you run the straps through 4 doorways (as long as none are sliding doorways). Will this fit a 2014 Nissan Frontier crew cab?
A:
These detachable crossbars don't have a manufacturer's fit guide that will guarantee they will fit any make/model/year auto, so the only thing we can go by are some basic guidelines. Your crew cab would need to have 4 doorways, to run the strapping system through. It doesn't work to run through windows, it has to be actual doorways. If it meets that guideline, then the only other thing to look at is how wide your rooftop is - if that is a wide truck, you may want to consider the larger version, seen here: https://www.storeyourboard.com/removable-crossbars-for-trucks-and-suvs/. The shorter version is 48" long; the longer version for SUVs & Trucks is adjustable, from 44" to 60" across. So you may want to look at that aspect to know if you would need the longer version -- the feet to the crossbars that sit on top of the roof need to be placed fairly close to the doorways, for reference.

This is SO easy to put on top of my 2016 Honda Civic! These roof racks are excellent, i put my 11 foot paddle board right on top and these racks hold it no problem! I highly recommend these!
