Paddleboard Rack Review

I’m very pleased with the new paddle board rack. It is quite easy to use. The installation in the end, was not difficult but the instructions could be improved slightly. That was probably my only complaint. I recommend having step-by-step instructions for those of us who are not super handy.
A clever solution!

Lockrack system is easy to mount and works as advertised. No more fooling with straps...loading and unloading is a cinch and now I am the envy of my friends who are fellow SUPers. Attaching to the Thule crossbars is as easy as the instructional videos portray.
I highly recommend!

So far so good. They grab the boards well and they stay in place. Will try a kayak later.
Fantastic customer service

I bought this product and received it in a very timely manner. Once I went to install it the team was very helpful in walking me through the procedure and make sure I had the right product for my boards. Their follow up was spot on and I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to make driving around with boards easy and safely secured.
Do you always have to have two SUPs on the rack for it to properly lock? Sometimes I only need to carry 1 board, but want the option for 2.
It should be fine to transport one board as long as the board is 28 inches or wider. If its a smaller sup we always recommend to use the single sup base
(50cm or 19,6 inches).
Does this item come with 4 adjustable arms?
Our double SUP locking roof rack does come with 4 adjustable arms (or 2 sets of rack arms).
What is the weight capacity? My SUP's are 44b each...
These locking SUP racks do not have a manufacturer's load maximum specified for the arms/cradles themselves. The weight maximum will depend on the load maximum for the crossbars that you will be attaching them to. That being said, a couple of boards that weigh about 44 lbs (so roughly almost 90 lbs combined) should be fine, as most factory crossbar systems can support at least that much weight. Again, if you have concerns on the load, you might want to check to what the maximum load is your crossbars; but they should be fine.
Will I be able to carry a SUP and a 23 wide longboard side by side?
This double SUP locking rack can hold two boards stacked on top of each other, so could work for your SUP & your longboard that way. If you wanted to transport the boards side-by-side, two sets of the transportation rack would be required, and whether it would work would depend on how long your crossbars are; this double-SUP rack base takes up 25.5" of the crossbar; the single version of it, seen here:
takes up 19.5" of space on the crossbar.
The single version would probably be a better choice for your longboard, if you don't want to stack the boards, if your crossbars are long enough, two of those could work side-by-side, or if you do have long crossbars, the single version could be positioned next to the double-SUP version.
Whether two double-SUP versions would work side-by-side would depend on whether you had at least 51" of length on the crossbars available.
Do you sell the roof rack crossbar that are compatible with the lockRack system?
The Double SUP LockRack System requires that your vehicle already has a crossbar system on it -- it fits most factory-installed crossbars and aftermarket bars such as Thule & Yakima. We don't sell these crossbar systems, though. If you don't have crossbars already installed on your vehicle, there are a few universal systems you can use to attach a board or two to the car, as along as it has 4 doorways - but they are not hard-rack systems like this -- they usually involve straps that you run through your vehicle's doorways, and the vehicle needs 4 doorways for them to work. You can find some of those alternative options for vehicles without roofracks included in our collection of SUP car racks here:https://www.storeyourboard.com/sup-car-racks/
My roof rack does not have grooves. I am interested in the Double SUP Locking Arm rack. Is there something to use to adapt my roof rack to it?
If your crossbars are square, or if they are Thule or Yakima bars without grooves, this adapter
can be purchased to attach this SUP locking rack to them.
I have a 2015 Honda CRV, with factory added crossbars. Will this be able to work with my vehicle? If not, what we can suggest.
These Locking SUP roof racks should work for the factory bars on your Honda. Note, the manufacturer of this line of transportation racks doesn't have an official fit guide, so we cannot 100% guarantee it. The universal adapter that is available in the options menu usually make it work on most crossbars - so if your crossbars don't have the accessory groove, or cannot accept T-bolts, you want to make certain to order the adapter and that should be fine!
Does it come with the lock to lock the boards on top? If so, is it built in lock or an attachment?
These Locking SUP Transportation Racks have a lock that is built into the rack. The lock is operated by key, and 4 keys are included with the system.
Will a single SUP not work on the double without buying the single arms?
The double SUP arms work best securing more than one board, due to their size -- so if you primarily just need to transport one board (that is your overall, normal need), the single version could be bought here: https://www.storeyourboard.com/locking-single-sup-roof-rack-adjustable-arms/
. If you do frequently need to transport a couple of boards than you would want to get the double SUP version, and if you sometimes are transporting just one board, you would want to add the single arms. They are easy to swap out and use the different arms if that is the case.
I can't tell if it will be wide enough for my boards, which vary from 29 to 34" wide -- it says 25.5 for the width? Also, can I get three boards on this rack?
The 25.5" width is the width of the base that attaches to the your crossbars, so that is how much room it takes up on the crossbars; but then the arms can be adjusted from that base to accommodate different sized SUPs, including ones that are wider than the base. So you can normally fit boards that would be the size yours are -- 29" to 34" wide -- that should not be a problem; the SUP arms on it can work for wider boards as well.
As for 3 boards, I wouldn't recommend it for that; you might be able to if one or more of the boards was not very thick (say a surfboard instead of a SUP).
