Product Description

freestanding-longboard-rack.jpgThis Freestanding Longboard Rack is one of the best longboard racks we have ever seen for storing your board upright. This longboard display rack is second to none as far as stability, quality, and universality are concerned. We highly recommend this stand if you are looking to show off your surfboard's art. The rack is minimalistic in design, so it doesn't cover up much of the board and won't distract from your board's looks.

How it works: This rack relies on a 3-point contact system to securely hold your surfboard in place. There are two arms that hold onto the board's side rails and a U-shaped cradle at the bottom to catch your board's tail. Each arm is a steel rod with a U-shaped, rubberized end that snuggly grasps around your board's rails (i.e. edges). The magic of this rack is in the flexibility of the arms. The steel arms act as a spring (akin to a leaf spring) that constantly wants to keep pressure on your board. To insert a surfboard into the rack, you simply spread the arms, drop your board in, then let the arms spring back into place. Easy!

Universality is one of the best features of the Longboard Surfboard rack. This rack will gladly accommodate a wide variety of types and sizes of surfboards. Additionally, the rack's tail cradle can hold square, pin, squash, rounded, and swallow tail designs! Unless you have some completely experimental board design, you can feel confident this rack will hold your board and hold it well.

One word of caution - longboards can be massive! If you plan on using this rack in your home or place of business, please double check your ceiling height. The typical residential ceiling height is 8ft. Some longboards are longer than this! Since this rack will hold your board about 6" off the floor, you need to add 6" to your measurement to make sure everything will fit. This is not to say this is a poor indoor surfboard rack. In fact, we've seen plenty of people use it indoors to show off their favorite toys, but you just need to double check it will fit in your own home.

Howdy! I’m Andrew from StoreYourBoard.com. I’m here to talk to you today about our Freestanding Surfboard Rack. This is a great rack. It’s popular among our customers because it’s so easy to use. It’s very stable. It holds surfboards up to 9 feet tall, and it’s portable, so you can move it around your house, your garage, wherever you need to store your surfboard.

The rack itself is very light yet sturdy, made out of steel. You can see here there’s a 3-point contact system that will hold your longboard. The tail of your board will contact this piece and the two sides will come in, collapsing tightly around your board, holding it very quick. The pieces that contact your surfboard are colored in heavy-duty rubber, so there is no worry about dinging or damaging your surfboard while you’re racking it.

It’s portable, so you can set it up anywhere you like, and you set it on your floor. It’s this easy to mount your board. Apply some downward pressure. Insert your board into the rack, and you have it standing vertically wherever you need to store your surfboard. A great feature about this rack is that if you noticed, this longboard has its fins in, so you can store surfboards with just about any type of fin setup. There are some other freestanding surfboard racks like you’re not able to store your board with their fins in.

For this reason, you can use this surfboard rack on the board you use every day, keeping your fins in, or you can also use it for a classic board that you got to store and display in your living room to make a great art piece for your house. Other than that, it’s so simple to use. It’s portable and it’s really popular among our customers. So check it out on StoreYourBoard.com today.

Researching and looking for a vertical stand to display mosaic art surfboard. Decided to give this one a try... it's perfect for my display needs.

Q:
Is it ok to use outside?
A:
This surfboard rack has some coating on it, but if you are in an area on the ocean or near saltwater/air, it may be subject to erosion since its not stainless steel, if used continuously outdoors. It is a stable rack, but if you are using it outdoors all the time, and there are heavy winds, you might need to use some thing to help stabilize it (a sand bag) - it really would depend on your area and weather.
Q:
My longboard is a 1960's Caribbean brand and is 9'5". Not used in a long while. Will this stand support it?
A:
Unfortunately, this vertical stand won't work for your board, as it holds boards up to 9 feet long - once you get over 9 feet, even by a few inches, it will not be stable., and we don't have a freestanding, vertical rack to suggest as an alternative, due to its size.
Q:
When you say measure from tail, do you mean the most narrow end or are you referring to part of the fin?
A:
For this surfboard stand, the measurement up from the tail is for where to measure how wide the board is, for whether it will fit your stand. So you measure from the narrow end up 21", and at that spot, see how wide your board is, and that would tell you whether it will fit in the width of the rack -- as it fits boards between 14.5-17" wide, measured 21" up from the tail/narrow end.
Q:
We’re looking for surfboard racks that we can use to display a surfboard vertically and horizontally. The surfboard is approximately 9'8" long, 23 3/8" wide, 3 1/4" high, and weighs approximately 18.74 lbs.
A:
We don't have any freestanding options that work both ways (horizontal & vertical), for starters. And at 9'8" tall, we don't have any good options for displaying that board with a freestand vertically. The most height any of our freestands can support is about 9 feet maximum. We do have some wall mounts that could work for your board, if that is an option.
