Product Description

The Inflatable Kayak Roof Rack is one of the most convenient and awesome temporary kayak roof rack systems available. The Inflatable Kayak Roof Rack is similar to our other temporary roof rack systems in that it is removable and universal, but the differentiating factor with this rack is that it is inflatable! Having an inflatable roof rack system is a huge advantage if you're looking to compactly store your rack system when it is not in use. When this rack is not inflated, the rack plus associated gear fits neatly into the provided Nylon travel bag that is small enough to be kept permanently in your trunk!

This Inflatable Kayak Roof Rack is designed to work with almost any car, truck, or SUV that doesn't have built-in crossbars already installed. This rack is designed to be a temporary, yet robust, universal rack system for vehicles the don't already have a factory rack. This rack is very user friendly - you can install it within just a few minutes without needing tools!

Each Inflatable Kayak Roof Rack system comes with everything you need to setup, use, and store the inflatable rack. The inflatable tubes of the rack are made from 420 Denier Nylon with 5 D-ring anchor points which means this rack is well engineered and designed to handle interstate speeds. The inflatable pads are rated to hold up to 180 lbs, so it can hold a substantial amount of gear.

When we say universal, we mean it. This Inflatable Kayak Roof Rack is designed to fit on all types of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Additionally, this rack is great for carrying a variety of different loads. SUPs, kayaks, canoes, surfboards, snowboards, skis, ladders, and lumber are just some of the things we've seen our customers use this rack for - what are you going to use your for?

Please note this rack is not suitable for vehicles with side curtain airbags.

Q:
I have an Intex Mariner 4 Inflatable boat that weighs about 100lbs total. Can this inflatable kayak roof rack be attached to my Honda CVR and carry my inflatable boat?

A:
Yes! This inflatable boat car rack is rated up to 180lbs, which should be more than enough to support your 100lb boat.

Q:
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry, will it work?

A:
This inflatable roof rack is not suited for cars fitted with side-curtain airbags; it looks like the 2007 Camry might have come standard with those, it appears that year has 7 airbags, including the full-length side curtain airbags. If that is the case, this inflatable system is not recommended for your car.

An economical alternative to consider might be this kayak roof rack, which can be used on a vehicle with or without cross bars or an existing roof rack. It is available in a standard and a deluxe model - the deluxe version includes more tie downs and wider foam blocks, for larger kayaks (the standard version is best for smaller kayaks).

Q:
How does the rack attach to the roof?

A:
This inflatable roof rack has straps that run through the vehicle's doors. Your boat is strapped on top of those inflatable pads, once they have been positioned and inflated, and then there are additional tie-downs included to secure the kayak. The kit also includes the air pump. It is a fairly easy system to install and uninstall, and even includes a travel bag for when not in use.

Q:
I have a 2009 VW Beetle will this product work on my car? Or do you recommend a different one?

A:
The inflatable rack is not going to work for your Beetle, and, unfortunately, because it is a 2 door vehicle, there isn't another option we can recommend in removable racks.

Q:
Will this kayak rack work with my 2014 Ford Fusion?

A:
Our inflatable kayak roof rack is compatible with a 2014 Ford Fusion. This system works for vehicles that have a bare roof, so if you don't have crossbars or rails, then this inflatable roof rack system would be a good option for transporting your kayak!

Q:
Will this work on a 2015 Honda Fit?

A:
Yes, our inflatable roof rack system for kayaks is compatible with a 2015 Honda Fit, according to the manufacturer's fit guide! It is made for cars with bare roofs, so you will be running the straps to this system through the 4 doors of your vehicle, but when not in use you can fold it up small for storage, and is an economical system to transport your kayak if you don't have a pre-existing roof rack.

Q:
Can these racks handle a wood canoe 14 ft long 75 lbs?

A:
We would not recommend this kayak transportation rack for your canoe. It won't work well for the shape and size of a wood canoe. The best bet for a large wood canoe would be this Big Foot Pro Canoe Rack; it attaches to crossbars, so if your auto doesn't have any, there are a couple types of removable/universal crossbars available. Another option is this removable canoe rack that is universal.

Q:
Can this rack hold more than one kayak?

A:
This roof rack is only going to work for transporting one kayak. To transport more than one kayak, you normally would need a rack that supports the kayaks on their sides; this double kayak rack is an example, but it requires you have crossbars on your roof. There are a couple of types of universal crossbars available that can work in conjunction with a rack that requires crossbars, such as these detachable crossbars, if you don't have crossbars on your vehicle.

Q:
Will this product hold 2 kayaks on a Honda Accord?

A:
Our inflatable, universal roof rack has a large load capacity, but it really wouldn't work for transporting two kayaks at a time. You would need something like a double kayak roof rack, that holds the kayaks on their sides; that type of rack requires crossbars though. As it sounds like your Accord doesn't have cross bars installed already, there are some removable, universal crossbars (or these) that could be used in conjunction with the double kayak rack, etc, as an option

Q:
Will this support two kayaks?

A:
This inflatable rack will hold a capacity of up to 150 lbs, but for a kayak, you may not be able to securely fit two kayaks lying flat on top of your roof next to each other, using this system, and are not going to want to stack kayaks on top of each other for transportation. If you have very narrow, small kayaks, with extra tie-downs it might be doable, but you might want to take a look at your car, and your kayaks, and picture what they would look like, next to each other lying flat, on top of your vehicle, to see if that might be possible.

Q:
Can this be utilized for two kayaks or only one?

A:
This kayak rack won't easily work for holding two kayaks, because it holds the kayaks laying flat on top of your car, and two kayaks may take up too much room side-by-side on top of your vehicle, and may not be easy to secure -- unless they were really narrow in width. Additionally, ou don't want to stack them on top of each other, so usually you need a rack system that will hold your kayaks on their sides, to transport two, as seen in some other transportation options here.

Q:
Can I use this rack on top of my Toyota Prius with a glass roof/solar panel to haul my kayak?

A:
You would need to set up this inflatable rack on your Prius so that it was not on top of your solar roof panel, and that may be tricky to do properly. The straps need to run through front and back doors, and are each 9.5" wide, so you need at least that much room in front of your glass solar panel and behind it. If it looks like you have at least that much room, it could work.

Q:
Is this compatible with a 2005 Porsche Cayenne?. I have a skull that is 28’ long, for sport rowing. I do not have a roof rack.

A:
OurInflatable Kayak Roof Rackis compatable with a 2005 Porsche Cayenne, per the manufactuer's fit guide. Its a removable system, for 4 door vehicles without existing roof racks or cross bars. It can hold a load of up to 180 pounds. The system does not includebow and stern tie-down straps, which you may want to use in addition to the inflatable rack, since you have a long boat.

Q:
Will this inflatable kayak system work on my 2016 honda civic 4 door? Will it carry two fishing kayaks?

A:
Our inflatable roof rack will work for your 4 door civic, and it can hold a substantial load - up to 180 lbs. But transporting 2 fishing kayaks is going to depend on whether they are slim enough in width, to place them next to each other on top of your roof - while they are in boating position - as the rack system isn't designed to transport kayaks upright on their sides.

If your fishing kayaks happened to be slim, it may be possible to use the system to transport them, but normally for two kayaks, transporting them upright on their sides works better, such as seen here, or here, though that system requires existing crossbars. There are some removable crossbar systems, such as these Versarail ones, that would work for your Honda, that would also work with additional kayak racks that require crossbars -- so that is an option to consider, since transporting your kayaks on their sides would most likely be recommended for your fishing boats.
