Product Description

The Inflatable SUP Roof Rack is one of the most convenient and awesome temporary SUP roof rack systems available. The Inflatable SUP Roof Rack is similar to our other temporary roof rack systems in that it is removable and universal, but the differentiating factor with this rack is that it is inflatable! Having an inflatable roof rack system is a huge advantage if you're looking to compactly store your rack system when it is not in use. When this rack is not inflated, the rack plus associated gear fits neatly into the provided Nylon travel bag that is small enough to be kept permanently in your trunk!

This Inflatable SUP Roof Rack is designed to work with almost any car, truck, or SUV that doesn't have built-in crossbars already installed. This rack is designed to be a temporary, yet robust, universal rack system for vehicles the don't already have a factory rack. This rack is very user friendly - you can install it within just a few minutes without needing tools!

Each Inflatable SUP Roof Rack system comes with everything you need to setup, use, and store the inflatable rack. The inflatable tubes of the rack are made from 420 Denier Nylon with 5 D-ring anchor points which means this rack is well engineered and designed to handle interstate speeds. The inflatable pads are rated to hold up to 180 lbs, so it can hold a substantial amount of gear.

When we say universal, we mean it. This Inflatable SUP Roof Rack is designed to fit on all types of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Additionally, this rack is great for carrying a variety of different loads. SUPs, kayaks, canoes, surfboards, snowboards, skis, ladders, and lumber are just some of the things we've seen our customers use this rack for - what are you going to use your for?

Please note this rack is not suitable for vehicles with side curtain airbags.

Q:
Can I use this SUP roof rack on a 2-door car?

A:
No, unfortunately this rack is not designed to work with a 2-door car. The issue that arises with a 2-door car is that the pads don't get spread out enough to properly hold your SUP. With a 2-door car, the most you could get the pads spaced apart is 1 or 2 ft. Most SUPs are 9ft or longer, so the issue is that you are trying to support a 9ft board on 2 pads that are only spaced apart ~2ft. The further you can space apart the rack pads, the more stable and safe transporting your SUP will be.

Now, in certain cases you may be able to get this rack to work with a 2-door car. For instance, if your back windows roll down and it allows you to run the straps through them. Then you may be able to space out the pads enough that it is safe for transport. If this is the case, we definitely recommend tying down the nose of your board with some type of bow rigging. Also, in this case we only recommend using the rack with one SUP, not two. Unless you're a hands-on savvy kind of person and know how to make this safe, we don't recommend using this rack on a 2-door car.

Q:
Is this safe to take on highway?

A:
This Inflatable SUP Roof Rack is okay on highway for short distances, but the most important thing to make certain of is to strap the boards down securely. Depending on length of board, or the car, one might want to use additional front and back tie down straps. For highway travel, it isprobably good to have a front anchor. If you are traveling really long distances on the highway, or traveling on a highway frequently, we would recommend getting a true roof rack kit for your vehicle, and one of the racks that fit onto the crossbars, such as this hard rack.

Q:
What are the advantages of the inflatable SUP roof rack versus your other soft rack?

A:
An advantage of the inflatable SUP roof rack is that it can be deflated, and then packed up and stored in a smaller place in your car or at home.

An advantage of this type of soft rack is that the straps are integrated in the rack. On the inflatable one, it comes with separate straps.

Q:
How much does it weigh?

A:
Our inflatable car rack for SUPs weighs about 7 lbs with all the parts in the box (uninflated).

Its load capacity is 180 pounds per the manufacturer's specifications.

Q:
I have a Honda Accord 2010 (4 door); will this system work for my car? I have a 14 foot SUP.

A:
Yes, our inflatable roof rack would work for your 4 door Honda; it works for 4 door vehicles that don't have an existing roof rack/cross bar system. For a 14' board, you might want to consider some additional nose and tail tie downs, for another layer of security transporting your board, depending on the speeds and distances you are travelling

Q:
Can I use this rack on top of my Toyota Prius with a glass roof/solar panel to haul my kayak?

A:
You would need to set up this inflatable rack on your Prius so that it was not on top of your solar roof panel, and that may be tricky to do properly. The straps need to run through front and back doors, and are each 9.5" wide, so you need at least that much room in front of your glass solar panel and behind it. If it looks like you have at least that much room, it could work.

Q:
I have purchased an SUP that I would like to transport on the roof of my Chevy Grand Caravan (van). The doors servicing the back seats of this vehicle slide forward/backward for shutting/opening, rather than swing out to open/shut. Will this system work with these types of doors?

A:
Unfortunately, this removable rack system won't work for your van because of the sliding doors. There really isn't a similar alternative to suggest, because any of the removable roof racks that run through the doorways would encounter the same problems with the sliding door frame, so wouldn't work.

Q:
Any chance this would work with a 2015 Nissan Murano that has integrated side rails?

A:
This inflatable roof rack for SUPs, etc., is normally intended for use on vehicles that don't have any crossbars or siderails. However your model and year Nissan is showing on the manufacturer's fit guide that it is compatible with the roof rack...so if the side rails are factory and came with it, not as an option, it could work; but if they were optional it might not. To give you an idea whether it might -- the straps to the inflatable system have to run through your car's doorways, so if the side rails would get in the way of that, it would *not* work; they can't go over the side rails, they would need to go under them and through the 4 doorways. And if you have crossbars in addition to the siderails, it would definitely *not* be recommended, you would want to look at a different roof rack option.
