Product Description

The Kayak Dock Storage rack is an innovative and easy-to-use storage solution for when you want to keep your kayaks stored on your dock or pier. This kayak rack is made from all stainless steel parts and hardware, so it is completely weatherproof and designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. The Kayak Storage rack is great for narrow piers or walkways because it is designed to attach to the side of your dock. Unlike some kayak racks that take away from your precious dock space, the Kayak Dock Storage rack doesn't require you to sacrifice any dock room!

The most innovative feature about the Kayak Dock Storage rack is how you load and unload your kayak. Instead of dead-lifting the boat out of the water into the rack, the rack folds down to meet the water and your boat. This is accomplished by an stainless steel arm and webbing cradle that swing down far enough to be in the water. The stainless steel arm supports the webbing cradle that you can maneuver your kayak into while it is still in the water. Once you have your boat aligned in the cradle, then you can use the stainless stell arm to swing the whole assembly back into its storage position. This may sound confusing in text, but if you watch the video below you will see how easy and intuitive it is.

The arm acts as a lever arm when you are lifting the whole assembly back into place. This greatly reduces the weight you have to lift and makes it easy enough that anyone can rack their kayak. The lever arm on this rack reduces the lift weight by 40% - this means a 100lbs boat would feel like a 60lbs boat! Another great feature about the Kayak Dock Rack is that it stores your boat upside down. This keeps rain water out of sit inside kayaks and prevents you from having to clear out any stray water before each kayaking trip.

This is the special, stainless steel version of the standard dockside version of the Kayak Dock Rack.  The dockside version means you plan to enter and exit your kayak from your dock. This is a great option for docks in deep water or floating docks. If your dock is in shallow water and you would prefer to enter and exit your kayak from standing in the water, then check out the Waterside version of this kayak rack. Please note there is no stainless steel equivalent of the Waterside version.

Unlike the standard (aluminum) version of this rack that offers both a bolt-on and clamp-on style mount, this rack only comes in a bolt-on style mount. If this is a problem or not your preference, then please check out one of the standard versions of this rack mentioned above. The bolt-on mounts have the following characteristics:

Bolt-on mounts:

  • Weight capacity = 100 lbs

  • Adjustable webbing to fit different boat sizes
  • Kayak rack
  • Webbing
  • Mounting hardware (of your choosing)
Q:
Will this work if I live in a tidal area?

A:
If you live on a tidal body of water we recommend using this on a floating dock.

Q:
I am looking for a product that will be used to store and lock a paddle board on a floating dock in a salt water canal. Is the stainless steel dock rack "it"?

A:
Yes, this kayak/SUP dockside rack would be an excellent option for your floating dock in a salt water environment. This is a stainless steel version of this rack, perfect for a marine water environment.

A couple of notes, it works for SUPs and Kayaks up to 34" wide.

Also, the mounting hardware for this stainless steel rack is bolt on, and requires the following specifications:

Requires bolting into your dock or pier;
Designed for wood or composite decking - not for aluminum decking;
Fits deck that is 1" to 1.5" thick;
Has 2 slots to provide for vertical adjustment to meet different water levels.

And being dockside, its intended for you to enter and exit your kayak/SUP from your dock. So if your dock meets the above specifications, this would be a good choice for your saltwater environment. It does not have a locking feature, so if you are looking for theft prevention/added security for your board, we would suggest SUP dock locks for a paddle board.

Q:
Will this work for a Hobie mirage oasis, width 34"?

A:
Yes, we have many customers with a Hobie Oasis using this dock rack! For an Oasis, as with all Hobies with the Mirage drive, we recommend that the Mirage drive be removed prior to loading the Hobie in the rack -- the Mirage drive is very easily removable. This will prevent the rowing fins from engaging in the lifting straps.
