Product Description

After spending hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on a shiny, new kayak, why leave its security up to chance by racking it, unlocked, atop your car?  In the time it takes to order a frappa-latte-mochachino an opportunistic thief could be off with his new paddling toy.  Don't let it happen.  Secure your kayak with this stainless steel cable for a dose of theft deterrence and piece of mind.  Easy to use, this integrated system features a built-in key lock that allows you to fasten your kayak to a vehicle roof rack in a manner of seconds.  The cable loops around both bow and stern, and threads through any type of roof rack.

Will this lock work for me?

  • 2 sizes universally designed for all kayaks and roof racks Basically, yes, this lock will work.  There are 2 sizes, a 65" cable for use with recreational single kayaks or tandems.  This size will also fit sit-on-top kayaks.  The longer 70" is for use with touring or sea-kayaks, since they trend toward longer lengths.  The cable weaves under or around any secured portion of your existing vehicle rack.
  • Theft deterrent The cable is designed to make it difficult for opportunistic thieves to "spot, grab and run".  It is not 100% theft proof.  A pair of bolt cutters will sever the cable, so we strongly recommend the use of good ole common sense when deploying this lock.
  • Does it only work with kayaks?  The lock will work with other equipment, but it's best to measure everything out before purchasing.  Simply take a small rope or piece of string and cut it to either 65" or 70".  If the rope wraps around both your vehicle's rack and your equipment (bike, canoe, etc) in a way in which everything is secure, with the rope ends touching and not too much slack, this lock should work for your application.
  • How many do I need? 1 lock per boat

  • Two sizes to fit all kayaks (65" or 70")
  • 3/8" stranded stainless steel
  • 1 cable (select either 65" or 70")
  • Cable integrated lock with key
  • Storage pouch
Q:
I understand how it works, but, the opening that grabs the kayak, can you make it wider or thinner? It looks huge and my kayak is not too wide.

A:
Yes, the loop where you attach this kayak locking cable adjusts, to fit different size kayaks

Q:
What size locking cable do I need for my kayak?

A:
Do you have a touring kayak?  Those are longer kayaks, usually at least 14 feet long and can be much longer -- so the 70" size would be recommended for boats over 14" long.  If your boat is less than 14 feet long, the 65" size should be fine....it works for recreational  and tandem kayaks, that aren't as long, though they are wider, so the 65" length works with their length & shape.
