Product Description

Ever been nervous leaving your kayak strapped to your car while you go off and do something else? Well, these Kayak Tie Down Straps made by Thule are the perfect way to securely store your gear and leave you worry-free. They work exactly like standard tie down straps, but have a lock and key that allows you to prevent anyone from undoing your straps. The reason these tie down straps are so strong is the dual layer system: a theft-resistant nylon sleeve and reinforcing steel cables running throughout the strap. Combining these two attributes, the Locking Tie Down Straps are nearly impossible to remove without a key.

Made by Thule, these are straps you know you can trust. With a lightweight and corrosion resistant aluminum buckle, the Kayak Tie Down Straps will provide your boards and gear safety for many years to come. Sold as a set, each set includes two keys that will allow only you to unlock your gear.

It is unfortunate, but we all know someone who has had their kayak or other gear stolen from them. Whether it’s a crowded beach or the local put-in spot, you can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your favorite toys. Here at StoreYourBoard, we definitely understand what it is like to be emotionally and financially invested in your gear. That’s why this product is so great! It takes the worry out of having your gear stored outside in traditionally vulnerable locations. These work great for storage on top of your car, in a trailer, or even to a fence or back porch.

What you can lock down:
- 1 kayak OR
- 2 stand up paddle boards OR
- 3 surfboards

Q:
Are each tie down strap 10 feet? Or is each strap 5 feet long and together do the two straps total 10 feet?
A:
Each of these locking straps is 10 feet long (or 13 feet long for the longer length that is available), and they are sold as a set of 2 straps, each that length to secure your kayak.
Q:
I have stand up thule kayak carriers. Will these straps work with this system and what length should I get if I do. My kayaks are single 13 footers. Will this system work with my subaru crossbars where the upright thule carrier (4pc) are?
A:
These Thule Locking Kayak Straps should work fine with your cradle & crossbar transportation system you are already using. As your kayaks are already being secured to the rooftop bars via the Thule cradles, the locking straps will then provide additional security by locking the kayaks. The length of your kayak doesn't affect what size you would use of these straps - the straps normally go around the width of a kayak, at the location you place the straps around it... then you would be securing the straps around the crossbars or side rails as well... and how that will work best with your particular roof rack and cradles, will be something you can experiment with. I would be inclined to suggest the longer length straps. The smaller size at 10 feet might be fine but the longer will give you a bit more strap to work with. They are a set of two straps.
