Lightweight, Versatile Efficiency: Why waste energy carrying your heavy kayak to and from the water if you don't have to? We all know kayaks can be heavy, and this Kayak Bike Trailer is perfect for conveniently and enjoyably transporting your boat, whether just from the parking lot or from your home near the waterfront. This Kayak Bike Trailer is built with style and versatility in mind, making it one of the best options out there if you're looking for a kayak carrier that you can attach to your bike. It even comes with a built-in storage bag for your extra gear.
Fits most kayaks out on the market today. Three support bars with rubber padding provide enhanced board cushioning, and the trailer extends from 6' to 15' so it fits most boats! The rack can support almost any kayak as long as you don't exceed the weight limit of 75 lbs and the length limit of a boat up to 15 feet long.
Adjustable Design. The trailer's sturdy and lightweight aluminum frame extends from 6' long to 15' long! With it's rear hub attachment to your bike, your kayak will have a low center of gravity for a smooth ride.
How does it attach to my bike? The Kayak Bike Trailer easily attaches to your bike's rear hub with quick-release hardware. It's spring-loaded kick stand makes it easy to attach and detach the system from your bike. It's hitch connector has a 0.25" receiving hole that attaches to your bike. This allows the trailer to work with most standard size bikes. We do not recommend this cart for larger bikes or beach cruisers with larger hubs.
Can you still turn right and left say at an intersection?
Yes, you can turn with this bike trailer for kayaks, but it is something you need to exercise caution with, and get used to doing; how easy it is or feels to you will also depend on the size of your kayak, etc. It technically works for boats up to 15 feet long, but bicycling with a 15 foot boat or board behind you is definitely something to get used to. Other than that, the system works to hold the board or boat securely, so it is more just a matter of choosing sensible routes to your waterfront.
Are the tires airless?
Yes, this cart system and bike trailer for kayaks has airless tires! That is one of its great features, you don't have to worry about flat or punctured tires.
I put the cart together myself. It was rather easy to figure out where to situate the boat on the trailer for a nice balance. The ride is smooth behind the bicycle. Able to drive distances to launch sites on neighborhood roads. Easy to load and unload my 12' Kayak by myself. TWO NOTES: It would be a good idea to bring a small piece of wood to place under the kickstand of your bike if your launch site is that of soft soil or sand. Make sure to use the cotter pins on the rear trailer pads after you position them. If those pads shift during transport, your tie down strap can loosen.
I can get my kayak to the beach and back by myself, and that was the idea. So far, so good.
