The Malone XtraLight is a high quality kayak trailer designed to carry up to two large kayaks. The XtraLight is one of the most affordable kayak trailers on the market - you would be hard pressed to find another trailer of comparable quality at a similar price. The XtraLight is the little brother to Malone's popular MicroSport, so it comes from a company known for making premium kayak trailers. If you're on a budget, but still want a high quality, USA made kayak trailer then this is it.
Versatile, modular, and easy-to-use are just some of the many ways you can describe this kayak trailer. With the ability to hold 1 or 2 kayaks plus additional gear, this trailer will make transporting all your gear easier than ever. Part of what makes the XtraLight trailer so great is its versatility. There are two square 58" cross bars that form the foundation of the trailer system. These two cross bars are just like the cross bars you would find on a vehicle roof rack. Why this is great is that you can use virtually any rack accessory designed for a roof rack on the trailer! This trailer can be used to hold cargo boxes, bikes, kayaks, canoes, etc, and is compatible with all types of gear carriers from Malone, Yakima, and Thule!
Don't be flat! We offer the option of an 8" galvanized spare tire that locks on to your trailer.
Kayak Trailer; Cradles Sold Separately
This product is just the trailer; any cargo or rack attachments are not included. This trailer has everything you need for a complete kayak transportation system minus the kayak racks that attach to the crossbars. To reiterate, this trailer has tires, rims, frame, tongue, etc (see "What's in the box?" for more details), but it doesn't have the rack portion to hold your kayaks. This is the base trailer for people who may already have kayak racks they want to attach to the trailer. If you don't already have crossbar racks, then we carry kayak roof racks by themselves if you prefer to shop for those separately.
Benefits of a Kayak Trailer
A kayak trailer is the easiest and most convenient way to transport your kayaks. Whether it is just to and from your local watering hole, or a cross country kayaking trip, a kayak trailer will offer you unparalleled kayak transporting capabilities. If you're used to transporting your kayaks on your roof rack or in your truck bed, then you'll appreciate how much a trailer has to offer. With a kayak trailer you no longer need to fuss with lifting heavy kayaks overhead, straps running through the car, or your kayaks taking up precious cargo space for other gear. A kayak trailer frees up your roof rack for other equipment and even has some additional gear storage capability itself!
Another huge benefit of a kayak trailer is you can actually "launch" your boats at a pier like you would with a boat. No longer do you need to carry your kayak across the parking lot to drop it in - that is tiresome and sometimes impossible for some people. If you have access to a boat launch, you can drop off and pick up your boats without once every having to do any heavy lifting. As a bonus, the trailer itself can act as a storage unit for your kayaks when they are not in use. Whether its in the garage, shed, or even outdoors (its rust-proof), you can leave the trailer with the kayaks in it so they're ready for the next session! We even offer locking tie down straps in case you feel security is an issue. If you don't like the idea of leaving you kayaks in the trailer, we also offer a wide range of home kayak racks.
Check with your state's DMV to determine whether a license plate is required for use of this trailer, as this varies by state.
