Product Description

Ever been nervous leaving your SUP strapped to your car while you go off and do something else? Well, these locking steel tiedown straps are the perfect way to securely store your boards and leave you worry-free. They work exactly like standard tiedown straps, but have a lock and key that allows you to prevent anyone from undoing your straps. Reinforced with 2 x 2.5mm braided stainless steel cables, these tiedowns are incredibly difficult to cut or remove without the key.

It is unfortunate, but we all know someone who has had their board or other gear stolen from them. Whether it’s a crowded beach or mountain resort parking lot, you can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your favorite toys. Here at StoreYourBoard, we definitely understand what it is like to be emotionally and financially invested in your gear. That’s why the Kanu Locks are so great! It takes the worry out of having your SUPs stored outside in traditionally vulnerable locations. These work great for storage on top of your car, in a trailer, or even to a fence or back porch.

Protect your investment! Pick up a pair of Lockable Paddleboard Tie Downs today!

Want to lock your surfboards, paddleboards or kayaks to your rack? KanuLocks have key lockable buckles and straps that are reinforced with stainless steel, making then uncuttable with a knife. KanuLocks are the all-in-one tie-down, anti-theft device that is so simple and so convenient. Lock down your gear with KanuLocks.

Hi! I’m Clinton. This is why you need to use KanuLock straps. When a board is tied down with a regular sort of tie-down straps, anyone without attracting any attention, without any tools, can just walk up to your board and take it within about 10 seconds. They’ll be gone in about 10 seconds. There you go. Gone is about 10 seconds.

Now, tie it down with a set of KanuLock straps. The KanuLock straps are just as easy to use as a standard set of tie-downs. I’ve got two bright stainless steel cables running through the webbing. We make a buckle that you can lock. I will lock them with a key. They are locked. They’re locked down. With the KanuLock straps, the buckles are locked. They can’t loosen the strap. They can’t slide the board out. They can’t slide it forward. They can’t slide it back. The reason for this is that the wide part of the board is between the front and the back strap, and this can be the same with all SUPs, surfboards, sailboards, canoes, and kayaks. With the KanuLock straps, with no tools, I can’t just walk up and take this board.

How about with a knife? I’ve got a knife here. Just to show you it’s a knife, this is one of the regular set of tie-downs. It will just cut straight through the webbing, so it’s a knife. I’ll just try and cut through the KanuLock straps. I’m causing a bit of damage to the webbing, but I can’t get through the stainless steel cables. With a knife, I can’t cut through the straps. How about a set of bolt cutters? With a set of bolt cutters, it does create a lot of attention, and it requires some sort of planning from the thief. It does take away the opportunistic thief, but I’ll try it anyway. I’m clamping a bit on the jaws. Again, of course damage to the webbing, but the cables are still holding, and the board is still locked down. Eventually, I think I’ll cause enough damage to get through these straps, but it’s not easy and it takes time. Compared to the 10 seconds with the regular set of straps, the KanuLock straps are a great theft-deterrent. That’s why you need KanuLock straps.

Q:
What length Kanu lock straps should I get for a kayak and a SUP?

A:
It really will depend on how wide your SUP is and what type of kayak you have, to know what length locking straps to buy. If you already have been using some sort of tie-down straps with that SUP and kayak, you could measure that strap, and make sure to add a foot to what you will need, for making it easier to tie off the excess end of these locking straps. Otherwise,if its not a super wide SUP or very large Kayak, the 11 foot could work welll, or the 18 foot would give you some extra length if you needed it.

Q:
Can I get by with an 8ft. strap for only 1 10ft. long california board? Would be strapped to the top of a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A:
The straps will be running across the width of your board, not its length, when you secure it to the top of your vehicle, so an 8 foot length strap should be long enough to secure the width of most SUPs -- and if you are just transporting the one board should not be a problem.
