Product Description

Quick, easy solution to take your boards on your next adventure This Locking SUP Roof Rack is a groundbreaking way for you to transport your paddleboards on your car - it has won product of the year at water sports shows across the world! Avoid the hassle of soft straps and tie-downs. The LockRack makes it a breeze to load a SUP onto your roof thanks to its unique, adjustable locking arm system.

What is the LockRack? It's a "Hard" Roof Rack + Adjustable Arms + Lockable System

  • Hard Rack: It's an aluminum-based rack system with rubber-coated arms. No more annoying, unreliable soft strap rack systems.
  • Adjustable Arms: The rack's arms can be adjusted to the width you need and snapped into place with spring-loaded pins.
  • Lockable System: The rack's patented theft-prevention system ensures that no one can snatch your board off of your roof either, giving you peace of mind should you need to leave your vehicle unattended.

What SUPs does it fit? NEW for 2018! The Locking SUP Rack is now designed to fit SUPs of any size. Each rack base consists of two individual pieces which can be adjusted from 19.5" to 25.5" wide. This, combined with the adjustable rubber arms, can fit paddleboards of any size. Flatwater, YOGA, Surf, Race, or Touring can all fit snug on this universal rack!

Anti-theft locking system The Locking SUP Rack comes with 4 weather-proof keys that lock the rack arms into place so the arms won't move unless you want them to! This keeps your board in the rack, on your car, right where you left it.

All-weather componenets The Locking SUP Roof Rack is made of high-quality materials and designed for use in all weather conditions.

  • High-grade anodized aluminum, brass and stainless steel components can handle all weather situations and won't rust.
  • Nylon parts are 30% glass-filled to add super strength and stability.
  • Soft rubber arms are made from durable, UV-resister thermoplastic elastomer rubber, ensuring toughness, strength, and a gentle grip on your board.

Universal to fit any roof rack NEW for 2018! The Locking SUP Rack is now built to work with both roof racks with an accessory groove as well as any aftermarket rack such as Thule, Yakima, and more! No more "this rack is perfect, but will it fit on my roof rack?". The system also now comes equipped with all needed tools for installation so there is no need for extra trips to the hardware store! We made it simple: unbox, install, and get your boards to the water!

Interchangeable arm sizes Need to transport 1 board some days and 2 boards on other trips? Simply add the additional set of Double SUP Arms and swap the smaller Single SUP Arms for these larger arms when you need to carry 2 boards!

Q:
We have a 2013 Lincoln Navigator with factory side/crossbars. We want to place a thule container on top of vehicle with 2 large stand-up boards next to the container. Will your products work for 2 boards on top of each other?
A:
This locking SUP rack only holds one SUP at a time - you can set up two of these next to these to hold two boards side by side - but if you want to stack your SUPs on one side of the vehicle, you would want to consider the Double SUP Locking Rack version, which does that, and would give you room to put something else on the other side of the roof rack.
Q:
I have a toyota Sienna with the factory crossbars. I want to transport a paddleboard and a necky rip sunrise 12 kayak. If I purchase 2 sets, will one be able to hold the kayak too or is it just for paddleboards?
A:
These locking roof rack arms can work to hold a SUP or a kayak. The main thing you would want to look at is whether your crossbar systems is wide enough to have both the SUP and the Kayak on top of the car next to each other as your board & boat will not be held on their sides - they will be flat on top of the roof. You would also need enough room on the cross bars to set up both racks next to each other, and in most cases you should have enough room. In looking quickly at some specs for your Necky Rip Sunrise 12, it looks like that isn't too wide of a kayak, at 28" wide, so you should be fine in having them loaded next to each, but you may want to look at how long your roofrack crossbars are, that the system attaches to, to makes sure there is enough room for two base racks next to each other.
Q:
What is the maximum weight these can hold?
A:
This locking SUP roof rack does not have a manufacturer's weight load specification, it is dependent on what your crossbars, that you would be attaching the arms to, can hold. So if concerned, you might want to check what the maximum load is for your particular crossbars.
Q:
Are tie down straps necessary when traveling at higher speeds (70-80mph)?
A:
According to the manufacturer tie down straps are not necessarily essential for traveling short distances at high speeds as long as your rack is installed properly to your vehicle. Of course that's not a guarantee and extra security is always the best course of action. The manufacturer does strongly recommend tie down straps for long distance interstate travel.
Q:
How does this work for having the boards side by side, instead of stacked?
A:
Basically, to set this rack system up on the top of your roof rack, you would be placing two of these rack systems next to each other and your rooftop crossbars would need to be long enough for that to work. For the smaller size, the base piece that attaches to the crossbars is 19.5" long; the larger one has base piece that is 25.5" long. Their arms will adjust to open up wider, to secure the boards, depending on how wide your boards are. If you have two very wide SUPs, you have to look at your roof top and make certain the two boards as-is could be placed next to each other ontop of your vehicle. If there is enough room for them, you should be able set up two of these locking racks on top to secure them.

If they are both wide boards, you might want to consider getting the double version that stacks one on top of the other, instead: https://www.storeyourboard.com/double-sup-locking-roof-rack-adjustable-arms/.
Q:
I have a a 12'6" foot voyager -- 12'6" x 32" x 5.25". length x width x thickness .However, i have a small car and the distance between my rack bars (between front and back) is only 3 feet. The board has a middle section that is very long. So its 29-30" for 2 to 4 feet. So i am not sure there is enough tapering to get a natural hold and the squeeze pressure from your rack is important. So my question is whether the single or the double is better contoured for my riviera touring board.
A:
Based on the specs you provided for your Voyager SUP, the single rack will work for that board, but the larger universal/double sup locking rack would also work -- and then you have the option of transporting more than one board if you wish. The distance between your racks should be sufficient, as long as you center the boards correctly.
Q:
I have a 2017 Tacoma TRDPRO with factory roof rack it doesn’t have the groove and I also have the Yakima roof rack on my camper shell it doesn’t have the groove either. Can this still be used or is there a additional option? I really like your product and would like to purchase 2 sets if this will work with my existing racks.
A:
If the roof racks on your vehicles don't have the accessory grove, you would need to use this adapter, sold separately, for the SUP Locking Rack system to work: https://www.storeyourboard.com/square-crossbar-adapters-for-locking-roof-rack/. The manufacturer doesn't have a fit guide that will guarantee it will work with specific roof racks, but from what we have seen so far, the adapter should in most cases make it work for various roof racks that don't have the groove.
Q:
Could this work with a surfboard? Mine is 18 inches wide.
A:
If your main need is to transport a surfboard, the surfboard version of these locking racks, seen here, https://www.storeyourboard.com/strapless-surfboard-roof-rack-quick-locking-adjustable-arms/, would be a better fit for your board than the SUP arms.  The SUP version's arms are best suited for the shape of a SUP, due to their width and thickness -- and since your board is 18 inches wide, the base of the SUP version would be too wide for it, as it adjusts from 19-26", so just a bit wider than your board.  The Surf version has arms better suited for the shape of most surfboards, and it can adjust for boards that aren't that wide -- it adjusts from 13.8" to 25.8" (which also takes up less space on the roof then).  If you do need to transport a surfboard sometimes, a SUP sometimes, or both together, the SUP version could work for that, but if it is primarily for the surfboard, I would go with the arms that are a better fit for surfboards.
