Product Description

Ever been nervous leaving your gear strapped to your car while you go off and do something else? Well, these Locking Tie Down Straps made by Thule are the perfect way to securely store your gear and leave you worry-free. They work exactly like standard tie down straps, but have a lock and key that allows you to prevent anyone from undoing your straps. The reason these tie down straps are so strong is the dual layer system: a theft-resistant nylon sleeve and reinforcing steel cables running throughout the strap. Combining these two attributes, the Locking Tie Down Straps are nearly impossible to remove without a key.

Made by Thule, these are straps you know you can trust. With a lightweight and corrosion resistant aluminum buckle, the Locking Tie Down Straps will provide your boards and gear safety for many years to come. Sold as a set, each set includes two keys that will allow only you to unlock your gear.

It is unfortunate, but we all know someone who has had their board or other gear stolen from them. Whether it’s a crowded beach or mountain resort parking lot, you can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your favorite toys. Here at StoreYourBoard, we definitely understand what it is like to be emotionally and financially invested in your gear. That’s why this product is so great! It takes the worry out of having your gear stored outside in traditionally vulnerable locations. These work great for storage on top of your car, in a trailer, or even to a fence or back porch.

What you can lock down:
- 1 kayak OR
- 2 stand up paddle boards OR
- 3 surfboards

I absolutely love these locking straps because I never feel worried about parking my car with my board strapped to the top. Also, they are very easy to use and cinch tightly so your gear is super secure. I use the 10' set on my SUP board and the length is perfect!

Q:
My sup board is 10 feet what size do i get the 10 or 13?

A:
The length you need for these locking straps isn't determined by the length of your board, as they normally are used to go across the width of your board. So whether you want 10' or 13' straps depends on how much extra length you need, in case you planned to regularly tie-down a couple of boards on top of each other, or use it for something else like a larger kayak, or had another reason where the extra feet will give you more room to play with how you are securing the boards. These are normally used as locking tie-down straps for transportation, but can also be used to secure your board to something else, like a fence or trailer, or porch -- so there may be a reason to have extra length if you think you might need it, but 10' will work fine for most situations.

Q:
Will these straps in 10 feet would work on a VW Beetle car top carrier, for a surf board that is 8’ long?

A:
If your Beetle has a roof rack, you could use these locking tie downs to secure a surfboard to the top of your car. The 10 foot length would be fine - the length is going across the width of your board and the width of roof top, not the length of your board/car, so 10 feet is normally more than enough for securing just one board to a roof rack. On a compact vehicle, it will be up to you to determine how comfortable an 8 foot board feels on top of your car while driving, even if secured well - big boards and small/compact cars are sometimes tricky, so that is something to consider and varies by user. Additionally, if you do not have a roof rack of any type on your Beetle, you may want to consider other removable roof rack options, that have built in roof pad, though they mostly work best for 4 door vehicles.

Q:
Does this automatically come as two straps? Or is this price per strap?

A:
OurLocking Tie-Down Strapsare a complete set (a pair) of 2 straps per order.
