Product Description

The Malone Big Foot Pro is a 4-point gunwale transport system for your canoes. The 4-point system provides superior stability and adjustability so you can get the perfect fit for any size or shape canoe. The gunwale brackets are L-shaped pieces that attach to your roof rack's crossbars and provide both lateral and vertical stability. Each gunwale bracket is well padded to provide a soft and safe place to rest canoes with wood gunwales. This method of storing your canoe upside down its gunwales is superior to the bottom style carriers for two reasons. First, it is more aerodynamic to transport you canoe upside down and thus will provide you better fuel efficiency. Second, the gunwale is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, place on your boat, so you can rest assured there will be no warping to your boat's hull.

The Big Foot Pro will work with most vehicles thanks to its sturdy polycarbonate frame and Jawz universal mounting hardware. The Jawz system allows it to fit on round, square, and most factory oval cross rails. The Jawz locking system requires no tools and can be put on by hand - this makes it easy to take on and off and to transfer to other vehicles.

  • Each gunwale bracket is 5.5" long x 5" wide x 4.5" tall
  • Fits canoes as wide as your crossbars are
  • Load capacity = 90lbs
  • Fits most round, square, and most factory oval crossbars
  • (4) padded gunwale brackets
  • (2) 12ft cam buckle staps
  • (4) Jawz universal fit mounting blocks
  • (8) 40mm & 50mm bolts with T-Knobs
  • (1) Set of bow and stern lines
Q:
Will the Malone Big Foot bracket fit on a 1 1/4" square bar?

A:
The Big Foot Pro Canoe Rack fits on most factory crossbars, including square ones, using the mounting hardware it comes with; so it should work for yours - but if you provide us with the year, make & model of your vehicle we can run it through our fit guide for this system.

Q:
My canoe weighs 90 lbs. will the additional wind force driving down the interstate exceed the nominal weight requirements for this system? I see I would be maxed out at the 90 lb weight of my canoe.

A:
90 lbs is the maximum load this canoe transportation rack can support, so you would be at the maximum as you noted; if your roof rack/crossbars can support at least 90 lbs, you should be fine though, as long as you secure it according to instructions, as that is the weight guideline to go by. If you think your boat is actually over 90 lbs itself, I wouldn't recommend it.
