The Malone Hood Loops are a really great way to make an anchor point for bow strapping and tie downs if your vehicle doesn't have a good built-in anchor point. If your vehicle is like most, then you probably have a plastic front bumper and very few features to attach a tie down strap or hook to. The Malone Hood Loops solve this issue by allowing you to use screws/bolts on your cars quarter panels (plastic front bumper - underneath hood) to create a solid anchor point.
Installation is easy and only requires a few minutes. To install, you pop open your hood and look until you find some quartpanel bolts or screws (see image). You'll need to undo this bolt or screw, place the eyelet of the Hood Loops over the hole, then put the bolt or screw back into place - that's it! This provides a sturdy anchor point that won't bend, scratch, or damage any part of your hood or bumper. If you don't like the look of it, then when it is not in use you can simply fold it back underneath your hood and it will remain hidden - no need to undo it!
While a small detail, this hood loops make transporting your toys that much easier and we definitely recommend them if you can't find a good tie down anchor point on the front of your vehicle.
New vehicles have nothing but plastic to tie down canoes/boats. These straps cure the problem. I use them on the pickup and these are for a van.
Haven't had the occasion to use the hood looks, but feel they will work out just great.
Excellent points of hold for canoe and kayak bow/ stern straps.
They look functional, I have not used them yet.
Super practical to keep with my roof rack gear. Easy to install and avoids cords rubbing against hood edges and plastic bumpers.
Now only if I could arrange something so good for the tail end of my car......
I love toting my kayaks but like most new cars, there's no good place on the front of the car to attach the tie downs. These straps fit the bill!! And they arrived to me in a fun pink color, so that was a plus (for me, at least). You can easily pop the hood and attach them yourself with no tools. I just unscrewed one thing, placed these under the head of the screw and re-attached. Simple even for a girly girl like me!
