Product Description

The Multi Purpose Roof Rack System by Ocean and Earth is a great all-in-one surfboard roof rack when you need to transport multiple boards of varying lengths and sizes. This rack system comes with a set of 4 pads and straps to secure snowboards, skis, shortboards, longboards, and other loads to your vehicle's roof without the need of existing roof rack bars. This should have everything you need to take your equipment with you to your next destination!

The pads in this roof rack system offer the perfect rooftop protection because they were made extra high in order to keep handles and zips clear of the roof. This roof rack also features rust-proof metal buckles which are encased in padded neoprene to protect both your boards and your car from scratches and dings. Plus, the top panels of the pads are made of durable PVC which protects the sharp edges of your snowboards and skis from cutting into the rack pads.

These straps and pads are super easy to install on your car roof - just loop the straps up and around your boards and under the roof, then lock the straps into the buckles. Because the buckles are rust-proof and the straps are made of a strong UV-treated and tested webbing, you can leave the rack system on your car roof and be confidenct that they'll survive long days in the sun. Or, when you don't need them, simply unlock the straps and stow it away in the reusable carry bag (included).

This rack system is a great choice if you want superior quality protection for your boards while transporting them to and from your travel destinations. Plus, because it's made by Ocean and Earth (a brand known for high-quality surf equipment), you can trust that you'll get superior performance from this gear.

If you need an all-in-one roof rack system specifically for your surfboards, check out the Single Roof Rack System | Ocean and Earth.

It does exactly as described! Allows for you to place it on your roof tighten it down and then place skis or boards to your roof. Drove it all around CO last week. Hit 80mph and the skis started to flex but held fast. love the vinyl cover, adds to the slight stick to keep them from moving. Couple things to note: No locks - which is obvious - so going to dinner in Denver we just tossed them in the car which took a few seconds binding and unbinding them and locked the straps in the car hanging. You can use handle bars in the car to loop through so they don't shift forward. Thoughts: They should make them a little taller because I ended up folding a blanket under the rear one so that the taller bindings didn't touch the roof. It's designed to run 2 pairs flat, but i fit 4 pairs of skis together in each loop. Lastly, and most important, they held really tight and I was really able to pull hard on it to "rachet" them down, however the cinch/clip is only plastic. Made me nervous at the higher speeds. Make steel ones and you have a perfect product. All in all, well worth every penny, and free and fast shipping! Even comes in a little zip up travel case with vent holes. Excellent!

It was great didnt move on the car at all, the only downside is that it only accommodates 6 six skis would be better for 8.

Q:
I am traveling with a Multiboard wheelie surfboard coffin. It will have 2 short boards and one 7'6 board in it. Can you recommend a soft rack or solution for strapping this to a car with roof racks?
A:
For the coffin board bag you are traveling with, we believe the best option (due to its size) would be the the removable rack seen here, if you have a 4 door vehicle that does not have any roof racks (it won't work if you have a roof rack/cross bars on the car). If you have a vehicle that has a roof rack, then we would suggest these straps, seen here.
Q:
Can this work with convertible cars? I have a convertible Mini Cooper and an 8ft long board, and I'm trying to find a way to transport it without having to put it in my passenger seat with the roof down.
A:
This removable roof rack could possibly work for your Mini Cooper, if it has 4 doors. However, this rack is not recommended for vehicles with only two doors, it won't safely secure your board in that case. If it is a 4 door vehicle, it should work fine with your convertible top.
Q:
I have a very rounded roof, so the thicker the pad, the wider I can spread the pads apart without the board hitting the roof between the pads; I have a longboard and SUP. Would these work?
A:
These probably wouldn't be the best option for your vehicle and boards. You would get the most clearance from one of our inflatable racks (regular or heavy duty).

Another option that would give you some more clearance would be a removable crossbar, such as this detachable crossbaror theversarail. They work for cars/vehicle's with bare roofs - same concept as the removable racks, but its a crossbar. You can then use tie-downs & pads, or even board racks/cradles that require a crossbar to attach to, to transport your boards.
Q:
Are the car windows able to open and close when using this system?
A:
Yes, you can raise and lower your door windows while using our removable, multi-purpose roof rack! It secures under the roof, so you have to be able to run it through all 4 doors, first - but once it is secured there, you can use the windows normally.
Q:
I know these are designed for cars without roof rail. But will it also work on the roof rail?
A:
No, this transportation rack won't work on a vehicle with a roof rail - they won't sit or secure right if you have rails. If your car has existing crossbars, you have more options you can check out, such as tie-downs straps and pads, or crossbars racks.
Q:
My son has a 2 door 68 VW bug. Would this product carry 2 snowboards on this car?
A:
Our multi-purpose and removable roof rack is not recommended for vehicles with only 2 doors, as for safety it needs its straps to run through 4 doorways of a vehicle; if the car only has 2 doors, one usually can't get all 4 straps space properly to hold the boards. This is very critical with longer boards (surfboards, etc), but we couldn't guarantee he could safely and securely position his snowboards on top of his vintage bug with this rack, so could not recommend it.
Q:
I have a car with frameless windows, will I still be able to roll up my windows all the way?
A:
Our multi-purpose, universal roof rack requires that you have 4 doorways it can run through - it doesn't run through the windows, but you open your doors to run the straps underneath the roof of your auto. Then you close your doors but can normally open and shut your windows as needed without interfering with the strapping system. How that would work for a frameless window seems to be a question-mark. You need to be able to shut your door as normal when driving to use this system. So it may not work for your frameless windows unless you keep the windows shut, but for normal car doorways, the windows themselves aren't affected.
Q:
Does this come with the front and back straps for the car or just one?
A:
Yes, our multi-purpose roof rack is a complete removable transportation system - it includes both the front and rear straps to attach to your vehicle and secure your board.
Q:
Do the rack/straps cause any damage to the roof of the car, paint, or windows?
A:
Our Multi purpose roof rack system should not cause any damage to the roof of the car, the car's paint, or windows if used properly under normal/intended use. Especially as it's intended to be a universal/removable transportation rack, used properly, no damage should happen to your vehicle when used under normal/intended uses.
