Product Description

Overhead storage for your SUPs. This ceiling SUP rack is a great way to store your paddleboards and keep them secure, protected and out of the way. Paddleboards are pretty big and bulky and let's face it, without a SUP rack they take up a lot of space and are always in the way. This ceiling rack lets you store your standup paddleboard in the often unused space over your head, keeping them off the floor and safe.

Strong and secure. The rack is made from ultra strong, high strength steel tubing with a slight over-bend, meaning the rack ends point up just enough to make sure your SUPs don't fall out of the rack. Foam padding on the arms keeps your SUPs from sliding and protects them from damage. It comes as a set of two, each with two sides, so you can store two paddleboards up to 38" wide each overhead.

  • 14" opening between ceiling and rack arms
  • Ceiling mount footprint is 24"
  • Each arm is 25" long - holds boards up to 38" wide
  • Total width = 56"

Hey, it’s Andrew from StoreYourBoard.com. I’m here with another rack video review. This is a great one. It’s our Double Paddleboard Ceiling Rack. You can see it right over my head. It will hold two paddleboards. Get them in your unused overhead storage space. It can free up some room for you in your garage, in your home, or anywhere else you’re looking to store your paddleboards.

I’m going to take our paddleboard down. I’m going to show you some of the rack’s relevant dimensions. I’ll give you a look at it. The rack has got two U-bow set up, so it hangs from the middle of your ceiling and splits out into two U-shapes, so you get two rack arms. Now we still have one longboard surfboard in here. It will work for surfboards or paddleboards. Of course, you’ll be interested in the dimensions as it hangs down from the ceiling. There’s 14 inches from this rack arm to the ceiling. That’s plenty of space for the thickest paddleboards. It also gives you some extra room as you’re maneuvering your board in and out of the rack.

Then of course the interesting dimension is the width of the racks’ arms, and that is 25 inches, and so that 25-inch measurement gives you the ability to store paddleboards that are even thicker than 25 inches. We have a 31-inch paddleboard. That main part of it was hanging over the edge of the rack arms. That’s no problem. We recommend this rack for paddleboards up to 36 inches wide. Then of course, the rack arm is bent slightly upwards so that as you insert your board and apply some downward pressure, it’s still safe upright. It’s not going to fall open and allow your paddleboard to slip out of the rack.

It’s got foam padding on it, so you’re not going to hit any steel bars, damage your paddleboard while you’re inserting your board into the rack, and it makes a great solution at your house. Now I’ll just insert this back into the rack one more time to show you how easy it is to use. Just slide the board in the back of the rack so it’s tucked nice and snug in there and you’ve got a storage solution.

This is the Double Paddleboard Ceiling Rack. Check it out on StoreYourBoard.com.

Q:
Does the Paddle Board Double Ceiling Rack come with two pieces to suspend both ends of the paddle board?

A:
Yes! This double SUP Ceiling has two pieces that support the front and back of your paddle board. Since the two pieces are independent of each other you can mount them at whatever distance you need to accommodate the length of your SUPs.

Q:
What is the Weight Capacity of this Stand Up Paddle Board Ceiling Rack?

A:
Unfortunately we can't guarantee any weight capacity on our racks because often times the biggest factor in weight capacity is how it is mounted to the wall or ceiling. On this rack we have a recommended weight capacity of 60lbs. This is of course assuming that it is solid anchored to the ceiling. That is built from steel box tubing so it can technically support more than 60lbs, you just need to make sure your attachment point can take the weight.

Q:
I have two SUPs, one is 27' wide x 14 ft and the other is 30' wide by 9 ft. Will this ceiling rack work?

A:
This double ceiling rack will hold stand up paddle boards that are up to 38" inches wide each, so it should be fine for both your SUPs.

Q:
Does the mounting plate rotate 90 degrees to accommodate rafters going in either direction, or is fixed only in the position as shown in the picture?

A:
This manufacture of this SUP ceiling rack does not recommend it being mounted in the other direction, as the strength the rack needs laterally would not be there.

Q:
Are there extension levels for the ceiling rack?

A:
There are no extension levels for this double SUP rack. For an expandable SUP ceiling rack system, you would want to consider this one here, which can hold up to 3 SUPs and/or Surfboards, or a combination of both, with extension levels.

Q:
For a 32" SUP, how much side clearance from the wall is needed to be able to place and remove the boards into this ceiling rack? For example, the space I have targeted in my garage for this ceiling rack has a wall that would be 10" from the edge of the arm?

A:
This double ceiling rack won't work for your 32" board in the spot you were thinking about in your garage. The arms that are holding it are 22" long - so add another 10" to your wall, and that is the same 10" that the board would be hanging over the arm, so you would have no room at all to get it on or off the rack in that position. Its alright the board hangs off the arms those 10 inches, it has enough arm support, but it just won't work to get it on and off the rack in that spot because there won't be any room.

With this expandable ceiling rack system (to hold up to 3 boards) some people will set it up to have a couple of levels going the same way, so you could possibly face two boards facing away from that garage wall, but it isn't as stable or strong a system when you set it up with them all going the same way, but its another good ceiling rack system.

Otherwise, you might want see if you have space for a wall rack, if you can't work around that garage wall in the way of a ceiling rack system.

Q:
I only have room to install my boards running parallel to the joists. Will this work?

A:
ThisDouble SUP Ceiling Rack won't work to run the other way. It requires mounting into your ceiling rafters as pictured; the mounting base doesn't rotate or orient to allow you to have the boards running parallel to the joists, as you won't be mounting to the ceiling studs/rafters that way, and it would not be securely mounted to hold the rack or your boards.

Q:
How much side clearance from the wall is needed to be able to put the boards on and off the rack?

A:
How much clearance you will need on the side for this Ceiling SUP/Surfboard rack is going to depend a little bit on how wide your board is, and how heavy it is for you to lift on and off of the rack -- but basically you need enough room about or almost as wide as your board to do so. It may vary a little depending on how easily you can angle your board into place overhead, or start to slip it into place. You can see Andrew of StoreYourBoard taking a SUP off and then putting it back on the ceiling rack in our video on the listing (shown here on YouTube), to get an idea of what it can look like. Hopefully that will help you visualize how it can work for your particular boards and space.

One kit allowed both of our SUPs to be hung out of the way yet they're accessible. Love it! Not too hard to install. My husband is handy. Needed to add a support board as we are in an OLD house.

I've purchased the single board rack before and I needed a double board rack. This rack is excellent, easy to install and is very sturdy. Both SUP's fit easily and while they are both heavy, this rack holds up well!

Directions are missing an important step

I really like your product. A couple quick feedback tips. They should be painted or powder coated to hide the welding marks.

Also the directions do not specify how far apart to mount them. I realize all boards are different but you should at least provide a percentage or similar.

Again, not complaining, just my 2 cents

The Paddleboard Double Ceiling Rack is everything I'd hoped it would be. Easy to install, keeps the boards a comfortable distance from the ceiling and from the roof of the car that parks below it. I store the boards with the fin pointing up toward the ceiling and keep the paddles up there too.

One issue with shipping: board arrived with only 2 of the 4 required lag bolts because the carton's corners were torn allowing the bolts to fall out during shipping. I purchased replacement bolts from Lowe's. Other than that I had an excellent experience with Store Your Board.

Super slick!

My husband and I easily installed this rack in our garage ceiling and our paddleboards are up for the season and out of the way! The only concern we had was the attachment screws for into the ceiling were a bit short for a secure fit so we ran to the hardware store for longer screws that would make it through the metal brace, sheetrock and into the studs more than just a tiny bit. Not sure the ones included would provide a safe long-lasting attachment. Otherwise, a great and easy rack for the paddleboard--and other long length summer stuff! :)

Excellent product, shipping was fast and well packaged, great experience all around!! I have this rack mounted to cross beams in my garage (super easy install w/ equipment provided), and currently supporting (2) 10' Xterra inflatable SUPs (apprx 45lbs total) on one arm and a 9'10' Isle SUP w/ board bag and paddle on the other arm (apprx 25lbs), and it's solid!! Great space saver solution!

The rubber tips(1 rack) were missing when I got the racks but the customer service were on it. They sent me the replacement right away.
The mounting is a little problem because if the holes don't line up with ceiling or roof rafters which they didn't you have to make your own custom mounting. I should probable got the wall mount!
Thanks

Product works great and was fairly easy to install. I had to install a 2x4 across the length of three rafters in order to mount the brackets in a direction that the SUPs would fit in the garage. If the brackets had a swivel feature it would allow them to be bolted directly to the rafters without worrying about the direction they run. Overall I am still very satisfied.

The rack quality is superb. Its finished nicely, and padding is set beautifully. The rack os very sturdy, and can see it lasting many lifetimes. Two thumbs up!

We purchased two sets of these racks to hold 4 SUPs, and we are very pleased! Extremely simple to install (screw into ceiling joists) with provided hardware, and ample room to hold extra-wide boards. Our boards are now stored securely, and we have easy access to them, without taking up lots of storage space.

easy to install, this rack fit my boards well. its made of heavy welded metal with the bottom arms wrapped in foam. four included lag bolts hold it to my garage ceiling. give yourself plenty of room to the sides when installing as i mounted it a little too close to the wall so my smaller board is kinda tough to get on and off but its light so its ok. i have my fins facing up now and they are close to the ceiling so i may flip the boards. this rack looks professional and was well worth the price. fast shipping, no probs.

My girlfriend and I recently purchased two SUPs. We live in a condo and storage has always been an issue, so a ceiling rack in the garage was an excellent option. They are now safely up and out of the way. Great product. Sturdy and well padded. The hardest part was finding studs under my crumby popcorn ceiling, but once I did they mounted very solidly.

It's a great rack, but is designed for a higher ceiling than I have in my garage. The bottom of the rack is 16" and you don't need that much space to fit a surf board, so it seems more designed for a canoe.

I have two SUPs and needed to get them up off the ground. I liked the idea of storing them overhead, there is nothing else up there so it made sense to put them on my garage ceiling. The rack is the most compact I found for mounting two SUPs on the ceiling. Put it up after finding the rafters and it is really strong! Not worried about it falling down.
