Take advantage of your unused overhead storage space with this Premium Kayak Hoist kit. Designed with an industry best 4-point lifting system, this kayak lift kit will allow you to effortlessly store kayaks and canoes up high and out of the way. This hoist kit is not your average ceiling hoist, this kit is in a league of its own with precision pulleys, stainless steel hardware, locking cam, and high strength rope. Storing your boat overhead has never been easier or safer.
The Premium Kayak Hoist is designed to work on ceilings up to 10ft tall. The hoist is easily operated by one person, but has a self-locking safety cleat that grips instantly in the event of accidental release. The 4-point system provides a safer and more stable lift compared to the standard 2-point system. Additionally, the soft strapping that runs underneath your hull provides a long term way to store your boat that won't cause hull abrasions or distortions.
We offer this boat lift kit in a variety of load capacities - choose a capacity that exceeds the weight of your boat.
This hoist, though more expensive than others, really worked well in my application. The side mounted lifting pulleys allow for a much higher lift. I have a low ceiling and an old school garage door that eats up most of my available space. This hoist allows my kayak to clear the door by only a few inches. The pulley system is extremely high grade and makes it very easy to lift and control a 40-60 lb kayak.
StoreYourBoard, via detailed answers to user's questions, did a great job explaining the details and mounting options prior to my purchase, and the shipping was extremely quick. I felt very comfortable with my decision before the purchase, and am even more please after it arrived and I got it installed.
I am one very pleased customer!
Love the hoist system. Definitely takes time to install! I mounted it over my garage door with about an 1.5 inches of clearance.
The instructions for installing the Hoist were very good. It does take some time to install however due to retying the knots several times to get the kayak level. The critical piece in the system is the clamping device which seems lacking in the fact that it does not stay unlocked without holding an angled pressure against the rope as the kayak is lowered which can be awkward. Also, occasionally it takes a couple Jiggles of the rope to make sure it is clamped securely. The system does make it much easier to raise the kayak then it would without the block and tackle system.
Great product. I only had 22 inches above my garage door to work with and this hoist is the only product I have found that allows for a flush mount installation. Allows me to hoist my 12' Kayak above my garage door and can lower directly on to my SUV for loading. Not an easy installation and two people definitely helps. Well worth the money and effort.
It comes with a good installation manual, but still difficult to install as there are a lot of options, but their help-line personnel are good to work with. The hoist works great. I have a 60 pound fishing kayak and it goes up and down with little effort and once you release the rope the cleat holds it in place. I designed it to go onto the bed of my pick up, ran the hoist rope to side. To be on the save side, I added a nylon rope along each strap, just in case something would happen.
Item shipped quickly and was delivered as expected. Product was easy to assemble.
Only complaint I have is there is a lot of pressure applied to the lead pulley when you are raising the kayak. I have a Native Titan so it is heavier than most but expected the raising of the kayak to be easier.
Supports the kayak well and have had no issues.
Somewhat difficult to hang and get the strap adjustments correct.
I would suggest a "safety belt" something like truckers use to fasten their load. I placed two belts about a foot under the hoist, connected by eye bolts and to the wood ceiling braces. Should the system fail, this will catch the kayak.
This is an excellent piece of equipment for getting your kayak(s) out of the way. We have 2 Current Design Pranas and they are 17 feet long. It took some planning to figure out where I was going to bolt the mounting boards to the ceiling and moving our ski racks. Because of our garage configuration and the door height, I could not hang the kayak above or below the door, so it had to go parallel to the garage back wall (sideways). Read the instructions. Then read them again. They can be a bit confusing. Take your time and you will be successful. I have the first one mounted that the second one will probably go in this weekend. So far they are well worth the money. I am curious to see how the lines hold up over the years.
Easy to install Works very well
The hoist works well. Stores my canoe up off the floor of my garage and allows me to get it on and off the car by myself. It took me all afternoon to install but I expected it would take some time. One suggestion I have is to possibly increase the length of the pine boards (bought separately). The instructions say the boards should be 6 feet long and be fixed to the ceiling with 4 lag bolts. The studs on the ceiling of my garage are spaced 2 feet apart, which means to hit 4 studs I would need to have two lag bolts at the very ends of a 6 foot board. To give a little wiggle room I should have gotten a board 6.5 feet long or somewhere thereabout. Also, it's a bit of a hassle to hold the board against the ceiling while doing the measuring, and screwing in the bolts. I suggest having a friend help with installation.
The hoist works better than expected. It takes a bit of planning to install but I followed the installation instructions to the T and the kayak fits very close to the ceiling of the garage. I adjusted rope lengths many times so my advice is not to cut them shorter ever or at least not till you are satisfied with the final config. All the parts are very high quality. I have zero complaints with this system.
Immediately after I purchased this, I thought: why did I just spend $180 on some ropes and pulleys? But once I got everything installed and the canoe slung, I was so happy with it! The quality of every item in the kit is obviously top of the line. The rigging worked perfectly, I could raise my 200lb fiberglass canoe with one arm!
Excellent product, I bought this same hoist 2 years ago for my first kayak, and needed a 2nd one for my fishing kayak as well. Installation directions are a little hard to follow, but the hoist is excellent. It will allow you to raise your boat right up to the ceiling.
It was easy to install, was not complicated to place. Directions were easy to understand. Lifting my kayak with this kit was very easy even with one hand! Great product!
Install was a bit confusing, but works great!
I am moving so have not taken the lift kit out of it's box yet. Will install in my next garage...
