The SUP Car Rack is the perfect option for people who have a car, truck, or SUV without a built-in roof rack. This rack is an easy, removable solution for your SUP travelling needs! Designed to accommodate up to two SUPs or longboards, you can rest assured your toys will be safely and securely held in position as you cruise to your favorite surf spot.
The SUP Car Rack works through a combination of straps, pads, and buckles. The aerodynamic, extra-high EVA foam pads provide a soft cozy bed that your boards will rest against and they provide a barrier between your board and your car. The strap system is UV treated and tested so it’s designed to withstand the beating sun and abuse you dish out on the way to the beach. Holding everything together is the rust-proof, metal cam buckle that strongly grips the strap system preventing any unwanted slack in the strap system. The buckle system also comes enclosed in a neoprene enclosure to help keep your SUP ding and dent free!
There are two great features about this rack. First, you don’t need an existing car rack in place for this rack to work! (In fact, this rack will not work if you already have a built-in car rack). This is especially great for the car-owning population, because unlike SUVs or trucks, cars are less likely to come with a built in roof rack. The second great feature is that this rack is quickly removable! Whether it’s the off season or just the end of the weekend, you can readily install and uninstall the rack to meet your needs. This is a great way to help your car’s gas mileage when not in use!
Product arrived quickly and was exactly as advertised. Easy to set up and use. Hold our board perfectly, even at highway speeds. Very happy with this purchase!
Rack works well once you get the boards secure. Straps are barley long enough for two SUP boards and you have to pull the straps toward the center of the car roof to tighten. Longer straps would be better.
Works great on my 2012 Ford focus.Holds my paddle board secure at 70 mph!!
Light and easy to use roof rack. Great for traveling and/or when a rental car is needed.
I'm 5'4" and drive a Kia Soul. I can easily get this on my car by myself (stepping up on the door-wells to do so) and then get my board onto the rack and strapped down. It's a great system and feels very solid and like it's not going anywhere once you get it on. Would recommend.
Was very happy with the product & service.
I just received this soft rack today. I will be testing it out this Weeknd... I drive a 99 Honda Civic Hatchback. I put one strap inside driver and passenger doors and the other I open up the hatch and wrap it out around hinges.. I'm careful not to cut the straps on the hinges... I have been doing it this way for years.. no problems at all...I needed a new rack since my old one is already 10 years and counting all the way to Baja and back to L.A. With they old rack.... Having a Hatchback makes it difficult to transport SUP or Longboard... My short board fits anywhere. But this is good rack quality wise... If anything changes with my testing this Weeknd I will change this review.
The foam padding didn't lift the board enough to cover Bluetooth fin.
Easy to use and works well.
I bought to use on wifes 2011 Chevy Equinox (no factory rails or bars) It went on very secure board was in place not moving at all. Only problem was the vehicle, the roof buckled. Not the products fault. I would recommend just not for this vehicle
I love this. It's easy to put on, easy to take off, easy to adjust. It's light, holds SUP boards and my big surf board. I chose this as an option to the more permanent ones because $200+ isn't in my budget for that and this one came through for me.
Wow, am i happy i found your company. Not only do you have great options available but your customer service is amazing. You guys go above and beyond in the helpfulness department and that was GREATLY appreciated. And i love my soft rack! Thanks, guys
Wish this rack had fit my truck. This rack won't work with a Two-door Tacoma with extended cab.
I'm very impressed with everything about this! The price, the workmanship, the ease of installation, and the look! Seriously, this is the way to do it, no bulky roof rack to deal with, and this has a lower profile than a roof rack anyway, and it can be removed. I was offered no incentive for this review, I don't know this company other than my purchase, I just like when things are done well so I wanted to give my opinion.
These paddle board racks are good.
I recently bought this SUP car rack because my wife's board is really light and our car is small. I felt I didn't need a huge expensive rack. Anyway, It was a bit of a chore to get this strapped to the car, but I didn't realize that I will NEVER use it because the strap that passes through the car is in the way of my HEAD. I cannot stand to drive with this thing in the way. I am 5'7". My wife is 5'1" and doesn't mind the strap passing over her head. So, if you are considering purchasing this item you need a LOT of headroom for the strap or you need to be about 5'1" or shorter if your car is small like ours (Ford Focus). Once on I felt that the rack is fairly stable, but I drove behind and next to my wife (who had the rack on the car) and it wasn't moving around. She never drove over 50mph though. If you're on the highway you're on your own.
Good luck. You get what you pay for. The price point is right for many people.
I am new to the world of SUP and have no roof rack on my SUV so I bought this. First time out this weekend with only 1 board (normally will have 2) and though I thought it was very secure when I loaded it I felt that the straps loosen a bit in the wind of the road and the board bounced up and down some (again wind) which made me a bit nervous. Maybe this is how it goes but I bought more tie downs with ratchets to ensure I can make it as tight as can be. Directions didn't state how far up the board should be so that might have been an issue as well.
I have used the soft rack to transport my 11 foot SUP board on my 2013 hyundai elantra a few times. If I drove more than 40 MPH the board shook violently. The second transport, I used a rope for additional security. I was able to drive about 50 MPH. It is a nice rack for short distances.
I recently took up the hobby of paddle boarding and purchased a rack system that was awful and did not work. After some further research, I found the removable software rack and bam! I installed pads on roof of my Honda civic 4door and I was out getting my SUP on in 30 minutes. Great product and does what it says it does. Thank you Store Your Board.
love this! it works excellent for my hardtop jeep 4-door. it's one of the only removable options out there for a paddleboard rack to store my SUP for transportation, and i highly recommend it to other jeepsters who are seeking a great solution for transporting their SUP!
happy with it. wish i could put my canoe on it, too. but i'm very satisfied
Living in Idaho where the season is pretty short, we were looking for a way to transport our SUP without going to the expense of purchasing a permanent rack that we wouldn't use year round. The removable universal rack has done the job.
They're truly universal. We installed with one tie down through the door and window of my Chevy truck and the other through the windows on the fiberglass shell.
I wasn't sure if they'd fit before we ordered, but they're perfect. No concerns at all. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because I worry slightly about durability, but that is yet to be seen.
Love this. Easy to put on. Kept board firmly in place. Great for my trave .
Product is great to travel with SUP board.
The downside is that I have two 34in wide boards and when using the foam spacer block, the straps are literally just long enough. There is only an inch of extra strap. I wouldn't suggest this if you are using two wide boards but would be perfect for a single board.
This SUP car rack is sturdy and does the trick for two boards for me on a small car (Nissan Versa 5-door). I use the foam space blocks for friction between the boards. In heavy rain, the straps will absorb water and carry it into the car - but it's easy just to remove the racks when it's raining. StoreYourBoard.com was great with customer service.
Was very pleased with the end result! Worked like a charm. However the instructions were a tad vague and more visuals would have helped. Being a novice a few more clues would have helped. Like fin up or down and in back or front of vehicle? You should also warn that a little bit of vibration is ok? Overall, the best and least expensive apparatus for the job!!
For short distance board hauling, you can't beat the price! My board is safe and sound, riding on the roof of my Passat. The 90 inch spread puts the strap right near my head while driving, and that is the only reason I suggest this for shorter distances...others might not care. Great product, and a great price.
I just needed a rack to take my SUP to my local break. It is only 10 minutes away but with my SUP being so big It was really hard to get it there, I had it hanging way out the back of my SUV a couple times, I know not very safe. So I saw this and it works great. Easy to strap onto my car and easy to take off. Holds my SUP very securely. Also much cheaper than most SUP roof racks that I saw.
