Product Description

The Mountain Goat Ski Tote ski carry strap system is the easiest way to carry your skis, hands-free. Velcro straps around your skis are attached in a 1-piece design to adjustable straps that create a backpack carry system for your skis. The lightweight, durable carry straps roll up to fit into your jacket pocket when not in use. This is what you've been missing on your ski trips!

Simple Carry System. The Ski Carrier is a 1-piece design that consists of 2 simple components. First, the "base carry straps" are the black adjustable straps (1.5" wide) that fit over your shoulders like a backpack would. Then, 2 red straps (1" wide) attached to the base straps velcro around your skis, directly beneath the bindings, to secure your skis in place and allow you to carry your skis, hands-free. Just like a backpack, the straps that fit over your shoulder are adjustable (up to 75" in circumference), to fit different size people, especially helpful if you've got a thick winter jacket on.

What Size Skis Will It Fit? The red straps that velcro around your skis are 15" in circumference when velcroed. That means they'll fit a variety of skis, including alpine, powder and race skis. If you've got thinner skis, you'll simply velcro the straps more tightly around your skis.

For Beginners to Experts. There are so many different ways to use these ski carry straps! Many people like them as a simple off-mountain travel system. Strap up your skis to the carry straps in the mountain parking lot to free your hands to carry other gear - boots, bags, etc. - on your way to the lodge or your condo. This is great for parents skiing with children who need to carry a lot of gear. Yet for experts, you can use this ski carry strap system in the backcountry, as you hike trails to find the best powder.

Fits in Your Pocket. When you're not using the Ski Tote, roll it up into a small ball that fits in your jacket pocket. It's easy to have it ready for whenever you need it, wherever you need it - unloading your car, checking into the lodge, or on the trails.

We've got a version for snowboards, too: the Snowboard Tote

Hey, this is Josh from StoreYourBoard.com, here today with another product review. Today we’re talking about the Mountain Goat Ski Tote. You can see it on my back. It’s the easy way to carry your skis. Basically it forms nice little backpack straps for it. It’s as simple as this. It comes all wrapped up like this. When you’re not using it, just slide in your pocket. No problem.

I’ll take this off now, show you guys kind of how it works. You can see it hanging on the skis right here. Go ahead and put it on the table. You can see these red straps are it’s a Velcro base, so the red straps adjust to your skis, so like go ahead and take these off. Kind of just show you so here it is without the skis. So as I showed you earlier, it comes packaged up like that and you just undo that and it unwinds to this, so the black straps are what formed the backpack straps to go around your shoulder and then the red straps are what go around your skis to hold that.

The easiest way to do it, you can kind of set it out. You can either do it while they’re standing up or kind of set it down the table. I’m going to show you guys on the table right now. You kind of want to have you want to form this open square/oval shape here with the red ties on either end, so that’s where it’s going to go on either end of your binding and that’s what’s got to hold it in and keep it secure on your back.

Put your skis up. You want to position this, so because of gravity, you want to use the top strap. You want to go right under your tote piece, so this is the tote piece. You want to do this, kind of keep the skis together, strap in the red Velcro nice and tight, and then you go ahead and use the bottom under the tailpiece of your bindings. Go ahead and strap that in, so that’s good right there, so that here it is. You can see. You can be able to carry it like that. The easiest way to usually get it on is you got to have it one hand, skis in one hand, slip it over your one shoulder, so here’s your first backpack strap and here is some adjustability. Go here. Reach your other shoulder through. Just straighten that out like that, so now it’s on my back. You can see that.

Then just like a backpack, you can kind of adjust it. One of the tricks is if you have some big brakes kind of put right on the small of your back and you don’t feel it, so now you’re on. You’re feeling good. Your hands are free. You can use your poles. Do anything. Your skis are nice and easy. Basically this is great for anything from getting from the parking lot to the ski slope especially if you have a family, you have kids, you got a lot of gear, easy to put your skis in the back. Also while you’re on the hill, you do some side country hiking, very easy to make those hikes, access that area with extra powder. It makes your day great. Here it is again: the Mountain Goat Ski Tote. Check it out on StoreYourBoard.

I wish I had thought of this myself!

Product is great. It is a simple way to carry your skis whether in the back country or in the parking lot. It packs down to a very small size so it is easy to carry. Highly recommended.

I use them to get from the parking lot to the slopes with 2 young kids. Easy to set up, but recommend testing out a couple different positions before you use for the first time. Once you know, it is quick and simple. I love the hands free feeling of getting from the car to lift and at the end of the day going back to the car. Just remember that they are on your back and above your head. With my ski jacket on, I almost forget the skis are there as I go under awnings or trees :)

I don't like skiing with a pack, but occasionally have short hikes for fresh powder. This is an easy to use ski carrier when you are hiking/boot packing in an area that does not require avalanche gear. Or for long walks from your car/home to the ski area. Easy to use and fits in your jacket pocket when not in use.

What an unbelievable difference this will make when walking to the slopes! Just trying it on was exciting! This is exactly what I've been looking for the past couple of years, and can't wait to use it next winter. As I age, carrying skis and poles on one shoulder has become uncomfortable. Now I will be able to use my poles for walking, and balance! Thank you so much.

Q:
Does this carry poles also?
A:
You can velcro the poles in too, but it will depend on how big your skis are, for whether whether the velcro piece can also secure your poles. Also, since poles have that round piece at the tip, you'll sort of have to stagger the poles a bit, to allow the poles to rest flush against the skis.
Q:
There are two sizes (regular and extra large). Is the size in regards to the velcro strap or does it pertain to the size of the shoulder harness?
A:
For these Ski Backpack Straps, the (red) straps that hold the skis are the same size for both options; the extra-large version is a larger set of the straps that go around your shoulders/back.
Q:
Can I carry the skis over a backpack?
A:
These ski carry straps are really designed to be used when you are traveling light, say, and don't have or want to use a backpack... the thought being if you had a backpack, your skis could be strapped to that (or say, could be using a ski backpack that has ways to attach the skis as part of its features)...so these are more of an alternative to use when you don't want to be using a backpack.  They probably won't work over most backpacks, it would be very awkward to get them into place and positioned over one, and they really weren't designed for that use.
