This freestanding ski rack makes it easy to store your skis! No tools required, no need to drill into your walls, just get this ski rack out of the box, snap on the base stabilizers, put your skis in, and you are done! Set it up wherever you want to store your skis - garage, basement, retail shop, lodge, rental, anywhere.
How does the rack work with my skis? The rack is simple to use, it comes in a box as 3 pieces: the 1 base that holds your skis plus the 2 legs that slide into the base. The base has 10 slots to fit a total of 5 pairs of skis, 1 slot for each ski. This is great so each ski is supported separately in the rack, although you can always add Velcro Ski Straps for additional support. Looking for a place to put your poles? You can put the straps over the tips of your skis and this rack will hold your poles as well.
What size skis does it fit?
How many skis will it hold? This Rack fits 5 pairs of "standard skis." See fit information above.
What is the rack made of? A very durable, sturdy polycarbonate (heavy duty plastic) so it will withstand years of use yet is light and portable so you can move it anywhere you want. You also don't have to worry about it warping or shrinking like wood racks. Its vertical design is perfect so that after your ski session as snow melts off your skis and bindings it drips right out the bottom of the rack.
Hey! This is Josh from StoreYourBoard.com here today to talk about Freestanding Ski Racks. I got a couple of models. We’ve got a standard version, a powder ski version, and the deluxe one that holds up to 16 pairs of skis. The great thing about Freestanding Ski Racks is you don’t have to anchor it to a wall. You don’t have to screw and drill and mess up your drywall and do all other stuff. It comes with a box. You pop the feet in and you’re good to go.
The two different versions work the same. They’re like this. They’re made of solid rugged plastic and they have these feet on the bottom. When you get them, they come like this. This part is fully assembled, and all you have to do is pop the feet in, which is basically a channel, and all you do is slide it, see it that way maybe, slide it on through. Then you’ve got your legs. It’s super easy to set up. No tools required. Sets up in a couple of minutes. No problem.
What we have is a couple of versions. This is our standard version. It has five slots – one, two, three, four, five – and each are 4.5 inches wide, so that’s the width of your tails that you need to measure and that’s going to be that dimension. That’s important because the newer powder ski version was designed to accommodate those wide skis, and as you can see, that distance is about 5.5 inches or 140 millimeters to fit the bigger fatter skis.
The other thing that you want to look at and I’ll show you this side by side is depending on how much upturn you have in your tails, this distance right there is smaller on the standard versus the freestanding. So on the freestanding version, you’ve got probably 2-3/8 and on the standard version, you’ve got more like 1-7/8, so depending on how high your upturn of your ski is on the back, you’ve got to worry about fitting them in as well. Those are the two versions. They’re similar in price. You can get 5 in with the standard; you can get 4 in with the powder ski version, but you can fit a lot fatter skis.
I’ll show you how they work right now. We got a couple of different types of skis. These are more of a race ski, definitely no problem fitting in the standard version. So what happens is you put your skis together like this, and then what you do is you split them down the center spline right there, and that’s how they get held. You insert them like that and they stand up no problem, no hassle, easy-peasy. You got that.
It also works for a pair of old mountain skis. You put it back here and then we also have a pair of Telemark skis, which you need to have a ski band to put these in like this, but once you have your ski band, go ahead and put that in and they all work great. Really super easy simple solution for you, for your skis. Some people ask us what to do with the poles, and a good idea for what you do with the poles is you just take this loop and put it over – we put them in this lower rack and put them over the shovel of the ski right like that. We have the skis in your poles right there. Easy to use.
Let me finish by showing you this big old 16 version skis. If you have a bunch of skis, you own a shop, you have a condo unit, this is a great option. It comes like this. Basically, all that’s changed is you got a bigger brace on the bottom where you can fit up to four of these in one piece. That’s it. Check it out. Buy now. StoreYourBoard.com. Thank you.
I didn't think about twin tips not fitting into the rack. Fortunately, I paired with an 8 pair wall mounted rack so my setup fully meets my needs.
Great way to store skis
Should be taller/deeper.
We purchased our rack for our rental property near mount bachelor. All input has been positive, guests appreciate it.
This is a solid, well made, and very simple product. It does exactly what it needs to do. It is not overly complicated and is very sturdy. It makes storing our 3 sets of skis a breeze, and it is especially easy to change the storage location. I am so glad I decided to buy this rack instead of putting hangers in the garage.
Glad I bought it. Easy to put together! Shipping took forever but was worth the wait.
Very sturdy, skis fit perfectly. Assembly is quick and easy.
I purchased the freestanding storage rack to bring order to the chaos in our garage with respect to our skis. They were stacked against a wall and would inevitably fall. The freestanding rack works very well and together with the Velcro straps and the video tutorial it is very easy to get the skis inserted and organized.
Easily fit more than 5 pairs. Lighter weight bindings (XC, 3-pin, Dynafit) allow multiple pairs in each slot.
I wish I have take out the meassuring tape and read the reviews instead of just looking at the pictures. My teens skate skis and class XC skis all tip way over, they flop around. So while it does keep my skis organized and consolidated, it doesn't work for someone like us with varied ski interests.
Very practical: installed in 30 sec, stable support, move it when and where it is convenient: winter in the garage, summer in the basement.
Worked so well that I just bought 2 more...One for me and one for a friend. Easier for my kids to get their skis in and out compared to the rack where the skis hang from the wall. Would recommend putting it in a boot tray to catch the melt.
Love it!! skate skis are a little wobbly, but I just jammed some foam in the slot. This has significantly changed the disastrous cascading pile up of skis in the closet.
I would recommend this rack to anyone looking for an easy and stable way to store their skis!
I reviewed quite a few racks for storing ski's. I was looking for a rack that I could put out in the winter and which we be easy to store during the summer. While there were 'nicer' looking (eg cedar, wood) versions out there, they tended to be bulkier, and didn't fit in my price range. This ski rack was the right balance of price, size, and portability. Oh, and very easy to assemble.
We ordered two of the 5 ski racks and one of the snowboard racks! They are compact and work out really well for a small space. We use them inside our house in the mountains and if you put a boot tray under it catches the water from the snow. Nice Job!
Holds all my daughters race skis - very stable not even one wobble. Just what I've been looking for to organize the "race corner"!
cross country skis flop around a bit but the wider tail skis fit nicely.
the ski rack is absolutely fabulous !!!
especially wonderful my gaggle of race skis !!!
i didn't want wall storage, as i like to move things around in my garage per seasons
great price, arrived really fast
JUST AWESOME ALL THE WAY AROUND
thank you !
Very easy to put together and use in our limited storage space
Allows me to store several pairs of skis neatly - my skis are 129 / 84 / 111. Product is sturdy so works well for my application.
Having just purchased two pairs of new skis with tails too wide to fit our old storage rack, I bought this one. The slots are an appropriate size for the newer skis, the construction is sturdy, and our five pairs of skis of widely differing lengths (2 pairs for our elementary school-aged daughters) are stable in the rack. I appreciated the customer service, as well; shipping was delayed and due to this, StoreYourBoard.com waived the shipping charges.
Doesn't take up a lot of space. Great for storing skis
wish slots for poles and a couple slots narrrower for crosscountry
Perfect fit for my twin tip 2010 Volkl Bridge Skis
sturdy, not tippy. Our use is race skis (narrow tails); limited capacity for skis with wide tails, but for our purposes, does fine.
This rack is very stable and comfortably handles the 5 pair of skis. Unfortunately, the slots aren't wide enough for my new powder skis, and my fairly fat touring skis barely fit but I have to put them at an angle and split the pair between two sets of slots. My basic all mountain skis fit better but tip a little. It would have been great if the slots were taller or they offered shims for the slots because my all mountain alpine skis, skate skis and class XC skis all tip way over. So while it does keep my skis organized and consolidated, it doesn't quite work perfectly for someone like me with varied ski interests.
It really exceeded my expectations as I was unsure about the materials. It is extremely solid and very strong and sturdy. It was put immediately to use and I have refered a few friends already who want it.
I bought this ski rack because I didn't want to drill into my walls. I was surprised by how heavy duty this rack is, it is really thick sturdy plastic. I loaded my skis in no problem and they have been standing in the corner now for a couple weeks and haven't moved. This really helped me organize my house. I would highly recommend.
