This is our top of the line, rail-mounted SUP boat rack. Made of marine grade stainless steel, this boat rack is designed for outdoor use and meant to stand up to serious outdoor exposure. It mounts easily to your boat's rails and adjuts with a quick release knob tightening system, folding smartly flat against your rails when not in use to maximize boat space.
Made of Stainless Steel. To be more precise, this rack is constructed from 1” diameter, 304 marine grade mirror polished stainless steel tubing. This is heavy duty stuff that is built to withstand outdoor exposure for many years. We know your boat get hits with occasional squalls, and this rack is built to withstand that and more while storing your paddleboards (or kayak or canoe) safely and securely.
How is it secured to my boat? Each rack arm is outfitted with heavy duty stainless steel mounting brackets with stainless steel hardware. These mounting brackets are designed to fit straight and tapered, vertical or diagonal boat rails from 7/8” (22 mm) to 1-1/2” (38 mm) diameter (great for stanchions or bow and stern pulpits, too). Initially secures to your rails with bolts. You can choose to mount on the inside of your boat's rails, or on the outside over the water. Use with yachts, sailboats, center console boats, pontoon boats.
How does it adjust? SUPs come in different shapes and sizes, so this rack is designed to adjust with quick release knobs (no tools). When storing multiple SUPs, set the rack fully perpindicular to your boat's rails to get the most storage width. To accommodate a single paddleboard (or 2 thinner paddleboards, etc.), adjust the rack arms away from each other outward on an angle, so the overall storage space is smaller and tighter to hold your SUPs closely. Also, you don't have to remove this rack when you're not using it because it's designed to fold flat against your rails out of the way.
How many paddleboards can it hold? This set of 2 rack arms will hold up to 3 SUPs, depending on their width. The rack is available in 2 widths:
- 17-1/2" wide rack has 12-1/3" wide storage space
- 24" wide rack has 20" wide storage space
- Both versions are 27" tall
Rack Arms: Made of stainless steel. Each arm's tip has a tie down point to use to secure your paddleboards (tie downs not included). UV resistant foam padding covers the arms to protect your SUPs when cruising, racking and unracking.
Is the rack held vertical if being mounted to tapered stanchions?
Regarding this SUP rack, the main thing to look at is the diameter of your tapered stanchions. It will fit them if they are between these diameters; 7/8” (22 mm) to 1-1/2” (38 mm) diameter. If your tapered stanchions fall in that range, then you would be bolting the rack system to the stanchions, and as you are bolting it to the stanchions you have some choices in bolt size, and those adjustments should hold it the rack system in a normal, vertical position. I hope that gives you some idea, but you can also check out the installation manual on our listing to see if that helps you decide if this could work for your particular boat and needs.
I have a suntracker party hut with square safety rails. Will this product work on the square rails.
This SUP rack does not fit square rails. You might want to consider this pontoon boat rack
or this pontoon boat rack
instead, which are meant for pontoon type railings.
Looking for a sup board holder to attach to the wake tower of my Yamaha jet boat; 2013 AR190.
We do not have a tower rack for holding SUPs at this time - none of our racks that attach to a wakeboard tower work for holding a SUP. We do have a variety of boat racks that will hold a SUP, but they mount to other parts of a boat, such as this SUP rack that you were looking at, which will mount to boat rails that are between 7/8” (22 mm) to 1-1/2” (38 mm) diameter. Other options include SUP racks that fit into fishing rod holders, and you can find other SUP boat racks here: https://www.storeyourboard.com/sup-boat-racks/
, though the primary options are attaching to rails of various sizes/shapes, or to fishing rod holders, should either be an option on your Yamaha jet boat.
Does your rack mount to square pontoon rails?
This boat SUP rack does *not
* work for square pontoon railings. Some SUP rack options for pontoon boats include the Toonracker
How do I determine which size to get, I have 2 SUP boards going onto 270 Searay ;)
For this SUP boat rack, take a look at how thick your SUPs are combined, to get an idea whether you need to go with the larger version or not. Basically, this is the breakdown:
The 17-1/2" wide rack has 12-1/3" wide storage space
The 24" wide rack has 20" wide storage space
So, if you had two 7" thick boards, you would definitely need to go with the larger size rack. If both boards are 5" thick or less, you could use the smaller one; I would just go with not just how thick each board is, but how the total combined when they are sitting together, so two 5" thick SUPs may take up a bit more than 10" of space in the rack (maybe not much more, but just to keep that in mind, or take a measurement on to know what you need).
what is the maximum cruise speed these can handle? Can I cruise at normal speed (30 mph), or do I need to baby it the whole way?
This Stainless Steel SUP boat rack does not have a specification available from the manufacturer as to maximum speed recommended. The only real guideline in the installation and usage manual says if you are traveling long distances or underway in heavy to moderate seas, you should additionally secure the SUP to rails or cleats. And, generally, most of these type of boating racks, it isn't recommended to use them in really extreme seas/turbulent weather, or per the above, take some additional precautions if you do. Otherwise, under normal conditions you should be able to travel at reasonable boating speeds for those conditions.

The rack itsself was pretty good, but the knob used to tighten the rack to the boat spun on it's molded in nut. However, the Store Your Board people quickly shipped my replacments and all is now good!! It's a good product.
