Product Description

The Ceiling Hoist for SUPs or Surfboards is the perfect option if you’re looking to clear up floor or wall space in your garage, shed, or boathouse. This easy-to-use ceiling lift is an entire hoist system that allows you to effortlessly store your paddleboard or surfboard overhead. Overhead storage is one of the most underutilized storage spaces in homes, garages, and boatsheds. Do yourself a favor and pick up one to organize and reduce your home or boathouse’s clutter!

Classic or Pro? Our popular Hi-Lift hoist is now available in both the "Classic" design as well as our new "Pro" version. Our Classic hoist comes equipped with hooks at either end to hold the tie down straps. Opt for our new Pro version and you can use custom-designed loading brackets instead of hooks. The Pro also includes a center connecting strap, perfect for kayaks, canoes, and SUPs with a tapered shape at each end. This connector piece will secure your hoist in a fixed position and make sure the load straps stay right where you need them. The Pro version also comes equipped with a 10 ft. longer rope for use with higher ceilings.

Included in the hoist system are two mounting brackets with pulleys that attach to your ceiling, 2 heavy duty ropes that can support up to 60 lbs, a wall mounted tie-off cleat to secure the ropes when you’re not using them, high-strength straps that allow you to wrap around your paddleboard, and two hooks that connect the high-strength straps to the rope. Additionally, for added customization, we offer a version of this product with adjustable straps that cinch tightly around your board and control the height at which your board hangs for tight spaces. This is a complete ceiling hoist system for your SUP!

Designed to work on ceilings up to 12 ft high, this system will work in almost any garage or shed! Since the height of the hoist is determined by how much you pull the rope through the pulleys, you can set your board's height at whatever is most convenient for you! . Your ceiling does not need to finished with drywall because this hoist works just fine on open joists too! Meaning, you can attach this lift system to just about any structural beam.

This hoist system is also great for your other organization needs too! Bikes, ladders, bags, or whatever else you can imagine work wonderfully with it. So when your paddleboard or surfboard is at your lake house or beach house, the hoist can still be put to good use!

Exclusive Patent Pending Design

  • Works on ceilings up to 12ft tall
  • Supports up to 60 lbs
  • Adjustable Straps: adjust up to 10 ft long

Hey, guys! This is Mark with StoreYourBoard.

With me here today, I have our very popular Hi-Lift Ceiling Hoist. This is an excellent solution to get your gear up out of the way towards the ceiling with a very stress-free loading experience.

This is perfect for kayaks, paddleboards, surfboards, or any other gear you have around your house or garage that you need to get up out of the way but don’t want to lift by yourself up onto a ceiling rack.

The hoist provides a 4:1 mechanical advantage up to 90 pounds to store your gear even as heavy as your kayaks. It’s available as both a pro as well as a classic design option.

Today with me here, I have a pro version, which includes a center-connecting strap here, which is adjustable, as well as square-loading brackets for the straps. This provides a much more secure system for kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards that have a more tapered end to each side to prevent the straps from wanting to walk or wiggle each direction. It keeps it nice and secure in the center of your board or boat here.

The standard option uses the exact same ceiling hoist system. Only a hook design instead of the square brackets. Same concept using the loading straps, only allows for the quicker loading and unloading of your boat.

The system is very easy to operate. It comes with a wall tiedown cleat to wrap off and anchor down the excess rope.

Pull down straight down below the rope to release it and lower. Simply let go to the side for gravity to grab the brake again and secure your boat. Once again, pull straight down to release on both ends of the rope to lift.

The hoist comes equipped with these heavy-duty tiedown straps with protective rubber casings on the cleats here. Excellent way to handle all the weight as well as makes it very adjustable for whatever board or gear you need to hoist up into the ceiling. Even handy enough to lower this directly down onto your car in some cases in a garage. Take the straps, right under your car rack, strap your gear down. You’re ready to hit the road.

Installation is very simple. I recommend checking out our install video in the link below. Again, this is our Hi-Lift Ceiling Hoist.

Q:
I live in a loft with 20' ceiling height.....is there any possibility to modify the length of rope?

A:
Our SUP Ceiling Hoist will only work on a ceiling up to 12 feet high; there is no way to modify this hoist to have it work properly and securely for holding your board, etc.

Q:
What's the highest the board can be put with this system?

A:
Our ceiling host attaches to the ceiling with mounts that are about 5.25 inches in height, then there is a mechanism that attaches to the hoist's hooks, that takes up another 9+ inches. These hooks will hold some items themselves - but for a SUP, you will be using the included cradling straps to hold your board, and then attach those straps to the hooks - the straps will snug up around your board, but at a bare minimum, the hoisting mechanism described will take up at least a little over 14" of space, between the ceiling and the board/item being hoisted. So you can't get the board higher than that amount of space, and depending on how you snug the straps around your board -- which will vary by user/board, it might hang a little lower still.

Q:
Can this be used on a slopped ceiling and still be leveled out? We have a very high ceiling that is angled

A:
Each pulley is independent so it can definitely be leveled out. You would just need to check the clearance from the wall and low end of the ceiling so that whatever you have up is not bumping or rubbing against the surface.

Q:

What weight will this hold? Will it hold 2 paddle boards?

A:

Our Hi-Lift storage system can hold up to 60 lbs, if properly mounted to your ceiling. It has adjustable straps, so you could use it to hold two boards, as long as combined they are within the weight limit of 60 lbs.

Q:

What is the distance the pulleys need to be mounted away from each other?

A:

For our Hi-Lift Ceiling Hoist, you basically want about 1/3rd, or a bit more, of your board or boat's length between the two pulleys, to evenly distribute the weight. It is an approximate distance, but, for example, say you have a 9 foot board, you would place the pulley brackets at anywhere from 3 to 5 feet apart, so that 3 to 5 feet of the board is between the two brackets. If you have a really long board or boat, maxing out the distance between the pulleys at about 5-6 feet at most is usually fine.

I normally don't take the time to write a review unless I am really impressed with the product and these hoists deserve a thumbs up review. Easy to install, very straight forward, solid construction. Purchase with confidence. I will be patronizing these guys in the future - great company.

A simple solution to a big garage problem. We installed using the video, careful to review it many times. The locking mechanism is fantastic. The unlocking is not as easy for me. The first time I took it down, I had to get on a ladder and lift the lock with a screwdriver. It was an easy lower from there. This probably has to do with where we had to locate the front pulley in the ceiling joist. The unlock is straight forward and straight down so consider that as best you can during installation. I am very happy with it and will happily work through this little kink.

This is an awesome product that works perfectly with a minor modification. If you want to store a paddle board at maximum height the board is wide and causes the user to create a sharp angle with the rope in order to disengage the locking mechanism. I drilled a third hole and a stand alone rope to use while pulling the lock down to disengage for lowering. Works perfectly and wanted to share my mod. Now when lowering i pull the red rope to unlock while holding and slowly feeding the black rope though to lower the unit.

I installed this in my boat shed at the lake over the weekend and for most part, the installation is easy and straightforward and requires around 45 minutes. The only issue is that the bolts are metric, so imperial tools will not work. Be prepared.

Once installed, the operation is pretty easy and the board glides up and down with little effort and hangs secure in the rafters.

A couple of callouts. If your ceiling/roof is high, there may not be enough rope to get your board to the floor. Mine is mounted about 14 feet, so I had to attach another guide rope, as I used all the line and was not able to reach the cord to pull the board up. Also, because of the way the brake works, you need to alternate lowering each end to get the board down. Not too much of a hassle, but a call-out.

Overall, the hoist is sturdy, well designed and I have no concerns about the quality. Its easy to install, once you have the right tools, and operates as advertised.

Only thing to watch is the two ceiling brackets had holes on opposite sides; i didn't catch that until I installed them and to flip one. Otherwise, no significant problems and it's been great so far.

It works, and I have 2 paddleboards with surfboards suspended in my garage. The video is for installing the standard and not the pro version, and for those of us challenged with clear instructions, it was slightly confusing. It's also a little tricky trying to keep the straps and ropes from crossing - but overall - very happy with the product!

Perfect for small living spaces.

I was trying to figure out how to store my 11 foot sup because I live in a small apartment. So ceiling mounted was the only option. I'm a female and I'm comfortable with power tools and physics, so it was simple for me to install by myself.

This is a great product for storing boards. Well designed and easy to install. The rope is a bit sub par if you want to store more than one board. I'm using it to store 3 paddle boards and purchased some para cord, 500lb rated, from home depot for $3.50 to replace the cord that came with the product. I'm very satisfied.

Actually bought the hoist for stow my ski cargo box. The hoist worked perfect. The directions on how to string the cord through the pulleys are terrible with no photos for us visual types. I found a YouTube from another similar hoist that showed me how.
Product good, directions need some improvement.

Getting it Off the Floor

I did a lot of research on ceiling hoists for paddle boards and found this one to be rated as the best bang for the buck. Package arrived earlier than expected. Although the installation instructions for the rope on the double pulley end could be explained a little clearer, it took little time to complete the and get the board hung. The length of the two straps are more than enough to hang just about anything. Very satisfied with the product. Exceeded expectations.

Likely to return as the tie down cleat needs to be in line w the hoist hooks. My garage doesn't allow that and need to find a system that allows the cleat to angle off slightly.

Bought this to store my 12'6 SUP above my car in the garage. I have about 12 ft high ceiling and this system brings the board within about 1.5 feet of the ceiling. Seems to be very sturdy, which is something you want when you're suspending a $1500 board 10+ feet above concrete. Now, I can drive my SUV under and lower the board on the crossbars.

Strap slippage

Bought them for paddle boards, the straps want to slip off the board, I made a rope with 2 loops in it so the straps cannot slip off the end of the board. I then ordered nylon straps to replace the ropes. Would be a good idea to include or offer as an option
