Product Description

expanding-ceiling-sup-rack.jpgSUP Ceiling Rack - A very high quality SUP ceiling rack made from steel in the USA. The awesome feature of this SUP Ceiling rack is that it is expandable. It is designed with a unique way to attach multiple "rungs" to this ceiling rack. You can store up to 3 boards - either SUPs or Surfboards or a combination. Pick from the dop down box above for the configuration you would like.

This ceiling rack is the perfect way to store your bulky and large SUPs and surfboards. Use the unused space overhead to safely and securely store your boards. If you decide to use the expandable feature, the rack will hang down further (see dimensions below) and a great spot to use this is in between the bays of a 2 or 3 car garage or under an elevated deck.

The SUP ceiling rack stores your SUPs in the horizontal position with easy access. The support arms feature lifted tips that ensure that once you put your paddle board in the rack it will not slip out. This rack is built with the highest quality materials and manufacturing methods. It features 1" diameter steel rods formed and welded and then coated with the highest quality nitrile foam. This nitrile foam is not the same kind of "pipe insulation" foam that many racks use. This foam is more of a foam rubber similar to the hand grips on a chainsaw or other power tools. It is very durable and long lasting. It provides great ding and scratch protection for your boards.

  • All-steel welded construction
  • Sturdy 1 inch diamter tubular steel support arms
  • Includes necessary fasteners and hardware
  • Thick nitrile foam to properly pad your SUP

We also offer this rack as a surfboard expandable ceiling rack. The difference is that the surf ceiling rack comes with a smaller base rack that cannot fit SUP boards. This SUP Ceiling rack can be equipped with surfboard Add-A-Rack Rungs (choose from above).

Already have the base rack and just want an expansion section? Check out the expansion rack

  • 14" footprint against ceiling
  • Arm length is 33" (fits nearly every SUP)
  • 6.5" gap for boards - plenty of room
  • Base rack alone extends 10.5" down from ceiling
  • Base rack + 1 expansion rack extends 18.75" down from ceiling
  • Base rack + 1 expansion rack is 53.5" wide total

Q:
Can I mount the ceiling rack with the racks facing the same way, so all the boards are loaded in the same direction?

A:
You can mount this rack with the base level and the additional rack levels all facing the same direction, but the racks will flex a little bit more because of the weight of the boards.  It is recommended to mount the rack levels in alternating direction as pictured, but you shouldn't have any issues if you decide to go the other way.

Q:
How many boards does the ceiling base rack hold?

A:
The SUP base rack level holds one SUP, so if you just need to store one paddle board, that is all you need.  It comes with two arms that can be placed at whatever distance necessary. If you decide to expand this system, you can add levels to hold up to 2 more boards.

Q:
How do I get the SUP up on the rack? Should I use a ladder or something similar? It seems like an unwieldy SUP would be hard to handle without 2 people.

A:
Ease of getting your SUPS on and off of the expandable ceiling rack system is going to vary by individual user, and depend on your particular board, and the height of your ceiling, as to whether you might need help -- though this SUP and surfboard rack system is meant for people that regularly use their boards. Alternatively, you might want to consider a wall rack. We have many to choose from that can be found here: SUP Wall Racks

Q:
Can I mount this rack (as a single rack only) on a 30 degree slanted rafter? As long as it's a single board, and back of the rack is closest to the ground, it seems like it would work?

A:
Mounting this SUP ceiling rack on a 30 degree slanted rafter is not recommended by its manufacturer. As that is a fairly steep angle, we could not recommend it either.

Q:
Are there two racks to an order? Or do I need to buy two to store my boards?

A:
Each rack comes complete with 2 arms to hold 1 board. If you are looking to just store 1 board, you only need to order "1." This is an expandable rack system; so you would order the Base SUP rack, if you are just storing the 1 SUP. In the "Rack Configuration Menu" you can find other options to add up to 2 more levels, for storing up to a total of 3 boards - but each order option listed will be a complete set for that many boards.

Q:
If I am hanging them indoors do I need to be able to locate a beam?

A:
Yes, to mount a Surfboard & Stand-Up PaddleBoard Ceiling Rack, you must locate a ceiling beam, there isn't a work around for installing ceiling racks. If your beams are covered, you find them the same way you would find wall studs. We have some additional installation guidelines and tips for reference here.

The two SUP racks I had to buy work ok but definitely order on your own and not with the help of the company. I wanted the dual board storage but some how they shipped me one in which I had to buy a second separate one or go through the whole return crap. I just bought the second one to save the trouble which was not my ideal situation.

This rack is very well made and was easy to install. I purchased 2 so I could hang my paddle boards from my garage ceiling. I would recommend this rack to anyone who needs to store surf or paddle boards out of the way.

I purchased the SUP base with an additional SUP and surfboard add-on. All the components are well made and the coatings are durable.
It is possible to crush the box structure at the base of the rack that attaches to the ceiling if you over tighten the screws with a wrench. But if some care is used during installation this can be avoided and still have the rack tightly mounted.

I have two stand up paddle boards taking up space either in my garage or outside in the sun where they should not be. I purchased two of the ceiling racks, now my boards are up and out of the way and protected from the sun. These are great items and easy to install. I just wish that the holes on the mounting brackets were 16 inches apart so you could mount them to the 16 on center rafters.

I love my ceiling rack! It arrived timely and was so easy to install.
My ceiling slopes down and the soft cover also helps to grip the board in place.

I bought two of these and they were relatively easy to install and look good in my garage. My husband didn't even notice that the boards were in the ceiling. I would definitely buy this rack again or recommend to a friend.

This rack is a bit on the expensive side but when I got it I was very pleased. This SUP rack is SOLID. The foam on it is also very nice, firm but also provides a nice coushin for my sups. I would buy again and I love how this rack alternates sides and is a very compact way to hold my boards on the ceiling

Did not come with instructions and fairly pricey in comparison to other products out there. It looks nice though and can hold a large heavy board well.
