Product Description

Ever been nervous leaving your gear strapped to your car while you go off and do something else? Well, these SUP Locking Tie Down Straps made by Thule are the perfect way to securely store your gear and leave you worry-free. They work exactly like standard tie down straps, but have a lock and key that allows you to prevent anyone from undoing your straps. The reason these tie down straps are so strong is the dual layer system: a theft-resistant nylon sleeve and reinforcing steel cables running throughout the strap. Combining these two attributes, the Locking Tie Down Straps are nearly impossible to remove without a key.

Made by Thule, these are straps you know you can trust. With a lightweight and corrosion resistant aluminum buckle, the SUP Locking Tie Down Straps will provide your boards and gear safety for many years to come. Sold as a set, each set includes two keys that will allow only you to unlock your gear.

It is unfortunate, but we all know someone who has had their board or other gear stolen from them. Whether it’s a crowded beach or mountain resort parking lot, you can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your favorite toys. Here at StoreYourBoard, we definitely understand what it is like to be emotionally and financially invested in your gear. That’s why this product is so great! It takes the worry out of having your gear stored outside in traditionally vulnerable locations. These work great for storage on top of your car, in a trailer, or even to a fence or back porch.

What you can lock down:
- 1 kayak OR
- 2 stand up paddle boards OR

This is a difficult lock position particularly on a truck. The keyhole generally faces away from the user making it difficult to lock. On an SUV it is a bit easier to reach from the opposite side after cinching.

Q:
Could you cut through this with a pocket knife?

A:
Our Thule locking tie-down straps consist of a nylon sleeve covering reinforcing steel cables. They are a theft-resistant system; you would not be able to cut these ties with a pocket knife, so they are by no means easy to undo/break apart, which helps deter theft while your boards are secured.

Q:
Do they hum while driving like every other strap?

A:
How much humming or buzzing you may run into with the Thule Locking Straps is really going to vary on what type of rack padsyou are using, how well the board has been secured, and your particular vehicle/roads being traveled. They are otherwise a high quality option for tying down and locking your board.

Q:
Can just 1 paddleboard be locked?

A:
Yes, you can use these locking straps to secure just one SUP - but if you needed to, they are long enough to secure up to 2 SUPs.

Q:
Are they adjustable for length?

A:
These locking straps are 13' long - you typically are using them to wrap around your board's width, though, say securing your board to a roof rack, and they would then cinch to the actual length you need to secure your board when you do so, through their buckle/strap/lock system.

Q:
Do these need to be used with Thule racks to attach to, or can they be used without racks?

A:
Our locking tie-down straps can be used to secure your board to any type of crossbars or roof rack you have on top of your car. If you don't have any crossbars (you have a bare roof), you might want to consider a removable rack system such as this SUP transportation rack; it works for bare-top vehicles that have 4 doorways for the straps to run though.
