Product Description

This stand up paddleboard rack is a high-end product designed to store SUPs on docks and piers! It's built specially to store your paddleboards outdoors in salt or fresh water environments and withstand the elements for years. Leave your paddleboards at the water's edge in this rack and you don't have to carry them back and forth every time you want to use them.

Marine Grade Outdoor Storage. The rack is made from King Starboard which is a specialty plastic designed for marine applications. The King Starboard construction means these SUP racks can be left out in the sun and salt water for years without fading, warping, or corroding - they are zero maintenance. We've seen hundreds of SUP rack designs here at StoreYourBoard, and we can confidently say this is one of the best designs specifically for long term outdoor use on docks and piers.

What SUPs does it fit?

  • SUP Thickness: each storage slot fits a paddleboard up to 7.5" thick. This is great for SUPs with thicker hulls like Race or Touring paddleboards, or inflatables SUPs.
  • For Thinner SUPs: we offer a version of this rack that fits SUPs up to 4.5" thick, if you have more traditional flatwater paddleboards: SUP Rack for Docks and Piers.

Should you add Rack Support Arms? The standard rack is mounted to your dock or deck with screws or bolts. If you prefer not to permanently mount the rack you will need to select "Yes" to the Rack Support Arms in the checkout menu.  These arms allow the racks to stand upright on their own, without being anchored.  If you select "Yes" you will receive 4 support arms.  The Rack Support arms are shown in the image rotary above.

Mounting Options. These racks are freestanding but have the option to be permanently fastened down as well. There are (4) pre-drilled holes in the corner of each rack that allow you to easily bolt down the racks to your dock or pier. We recommend using medium to large sized wood screws or lagging bolts to fasten these racks down.

Lock Compatible. Each rack arm incorporates cut-outs for looping cable locks or dock locks through (sold separately). This feature is especially useful if you permanently bolt your racks down. With your racks permanently installed to your dock and your boards locked to the rack, you have a secure, locked SUP storage system so you can leave your SUPs outside.

Bungee Security Strap. These racks have an integrated bungee cord that secures your SUP down and prevents it from flying away on those gusty days out on the water.

Paddle Holders. Another great feature about this rack is that each rack arm also doubles as a paddle holder. The top of each rack arm has a U-shaped cutout that is perfect for cradling your paddles.

Customizable Options:

  • Color: Black or White
  • SUP Capacity: storage for 1 or 2 SUPs

Hey, I’m Josh from StoreYourBoard, here today with our SUP Outdoor Rack for Race and Touring boards. This is a great, great rack for decks, docks, piers, even your lawn, the beach, whatever. It really works well outdoors. It’s made from King StarBoard Marine Plastic super, super durable material. It should last for many, many years. This is what they use on deep sea fishing boats. It’s salt sprayed all day long, wiped down, and it shows no wear and really no maintenance is required, so it’s a perfect, perfect application for outdoor rack.

You can see here this is specifically meant for any wide paddleboards, so Race board, Touring board, or even some of the bigger inflatables, which is actually what we have in here. This is about 6 inches to 6.5 inches wide, so that works pretty well. The bottom cut here is up to 7.5 inches wide, so that will fit a majority of the Race, Touring, and inflatable boards out there or if you have a Yoga board, that’s really fit anything like that.

But they do also make a smaller one, which we have right here, and you can see the U in here where you put your board is just this is 4.5 inches, so that would be more of a standard-type paddleboard whereas this one is wider at 7.5 more for the bigger wider boards. This comes in a couple of different varieties. You see here we have two, so the paddleboards rest in the back slot and then there’s open slot. We also have a single version, and then it also comes in black or white. So whatever fits your dock, your deck best choose what you want.

A couple of other features here. This comes fully assembled, which is awesome. It has a baseplate here and then a vertical upright. The baseplate has four mounting holes in if you want to securely anchor it to your dock that works great. Then the wind, you want to put it in, if someone knocks it, it doesn’t fall over. Many people use it without. If you want to kind of have a little portable, you put it in your garage, you put it out in your deck, whatever you need. It works great. It also has these bungee cords here that hold the boards in, so it comes from the back, and then they have a nice little notch here, so you just notch it in, no problem.

Another great little feature is you got your paddle holes here, so if you can see this, there’s a little dip here at the top of the rack, so you can put that right in hole. It’s perfect. When you put it next to your board, it lines up real nice with the board so then you have another open slot for your next board and your next paddle. Then you can just go ahead and strap it back in and you’re good to go.

One of the other great features is that they have these holes. This is mainly used for locking. We saw a couple of different locks. A lot of people buy the docks lock with this and it works great. Put the lock cable through here, attach it to the back of your board and you’re good to go. So that’s it. Check it out. StoreYourBoard.com. Thank you.

I really like the racks. I think it would be beneficial to include screws. That way someone can mount the racks right away.

I find this product just as advertising-- that is, very stable and effective at holding two standup boards. The material is very durable, yet will not scratch the boards. It looks like it will wear very well in the sun and near salt water.

This is the second SUP rack I have purchased from Store Your Board and I'm happy to say I am completely satisfied with the dock rack storage system for our boards.
We have a small dock and no where to suspend or hang the boards so this specific rack solves that problem and we love it! It even has a place to lay the paddle!
I would recommend your products to everyone!

The larger size fit our Starboard SUP so much better than the narrower size. Thanks so much for taking care of our return - fantastic customer service from Carli.

Q:
Can this be drilled into concrete?
A:
Yes, our freestanding SUP racks for touring/racing boards could be mounted to concrete, but you would need to purchase concrete anchors to do so, from anywhere that you buy hardware (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.). This freestanding rack system does not ship with any mounting hardware as it is, because of the nature of where people may be mounting these racks outdoors (different types of piers/docks, etc.) there is no standard hardware that would be usable for all or most of those mounting situations. However, it has 4 pre-drilled mounting holes on each rack, for use with medium to large-sized screws or lagbolts, or in your case you would need appropriate concrete anchors/lagbolts.
Q:
I have two boards that are 5 ½ inches thick. Would this rack be good for them?
A:
Our Dock/Pier Racks for Touring and Race SUPS would be fine for your boards, as its meant for larger and thicker SUPS. Your boards, at 5.5 inches thick, would fit this rack, as the gap where the boards sit tapers from 8.5 inches down to 7.5 inches, so there is a little extra room for putting your board in and out of the rack but they should fit fine. It also includes integrated bungees that can help secure the boards in place, or should you wish to lock your boards up, this stand works well with SUP dock locks.
Q:
If I don't fasten this to the ground, is sturdy and will it not fall over?
A:
Yes, our dock racks for SUPS are strong and sturdy enough to be used freestanding, and are built for use that way, without attaching them to a dock/pier or other surface. They are pre-drilled should you wish to mount them to a surface for additional stability.
Q:
How far apart should you have the racks from one another?
A:
You can space each of the rack sides of these dock rack/stands as far apart as you need to hold your boards. The best distance apart is really going to depend on the length of the boards you are storing. You usually want about a little more than 1/3 of your board's length in the middle, with about 1/3 or maybe 1/4 of the board on each end of the rack. o if your board is 6 foot long, you might have the rack sides at about 1.5 or 2 feet in at ends. If you are using the multiple board stand, you will need to adjust it to where it will hold your shortest boards being stored. You can check out some pictures on the listings, to get an idea of it in use and give you a visual idea of where the rack sides normally sit.
Q:
Trying to figure out locking system for these, any suggestions?
A:
We recommend using these dock locks with our pier/dock racks, as the dock/pier racks have pre-cut openings that you can run a dock lock cable through, and the dock lock system works well with them. The dock lock system includes one cable, and a jaw clamp to attach to one board - you can order additional jaw clamps for each board you want to attach to the one cable, and it provides a good security solution for your boards.
Q:
How wide is it at the bottom? Seems to me if it's not mounted to the ground or deck the slightest touch will knock it over like dominos.
A:
OurSUP stands for touring boardsis 4" wide at the base; additionally, for 1 board its each piece is 18" long, for 2 boards, its 30" long. The racks can be secured to your pier or dock, but also work fine on a level surface, as they are sturdy, well-constructed stands. We have a lot of customers using these in a variety of locations, who find them very stable - though it varies by user whether one decides to secure them to the pier or not. Some people like the flexibility of the racks be freestanding and mobile. The racks have bungees incorporated into them to help your board stay in place, as an added feature.
Q:
Can they stay out in the snow during winter?
A:
We checked with our manufacturer on our dock/pier freestanding SUP racks, for their thoughts on how these stands, made from a marine grade material, do in snowy environments, if left out over winter. They said there should be no problem leaving the board racks themselves out in winter.
Q:
What is the total width with two touring boards on this product? Trying to see how much room on the dock it will take up...
A:
The 2 board version of this touring/racing SUP dock rack is 30" wide (the single version is 18").
Q:
Do you need a separate lock for both boards or can one lock work to lock Both boards togeter?
A:
One lock can work to secure both boards on this rack, but it will depend on the type of lock you use. With these SUP dock locks, which work for this dock rack, one cable can work to secure both boards at once, but you will need to order one extra Jaw Clamp with the cable system - the Jaw Clamp is what attaches to the board, so you need one clamp for each board, but you can use several jaw clamps on one cable, meaning you can secure several boards at once.
Q:
I have an EZ Dock system. I don't believe this can be attached to the dock. Without bolting it down, will wind/storms be an issue?
A:
These SUP dock racks don't include mounting hardware to attach to docks/piers because types of docks vary (the materials they are made from), and as you noted, you may not be able to bolt them into your EZ dock system, unless those type of docks can take some sort of hardware you could locate. So the stands are fairly stable on level surfaces without bolting down, and there are braces that are available as an optional add-on, that help stabilize them further if one doesn't mount them to the dock. With your boards in them, they should mostly be fine - but since wind/storm conditions vary, how stable they will be in your climate/area is something I don't have a good way to gauge. Overall, if you do live in a location that was subjected to sudden/bad storms, it probably would be best to look at a way to bolt them down or find another alternative.
