Product Description

expansion-foam-block-for-roof-rack.jpgThese SUP Roof Rack Expansion foam blocks are an awesome way to take full advantage of your existing roof rack system by allowing you to add an additional stand up paddleboard! The foam blocks provide just the right amount of space and cushion necessary to stack two SUPs on top of each other for transport.

Do you have two paddleboards, but only have a way to carry one of them? If so, these convenient foam spacers will allow you carry that extra board. How it works is simple - you place them inbetween the two paddleboards you intend to carry, then you strap it all down. No longer do you need to use rolled up towels or any other makeshift spacer! The foam blocks come precut with a special groove in the top that allows you to run a tie down strap through them. This allows you to tie down both the top and bottom board independently if you would like.

To be clear, this is not an entire rack solution but is meant to be an add-on for your existing rack system. Specifically, these foam SUP expansion blocks are meant to be used with SUP roof racks that use tie down straps. These expansion blocks are not compatible with specialized hard racks like the Thule SUP Taxi or the Inno Locking Rack. These SUP Roof Rack Expansion foam blocks are meant for use with soft racks or for people using factory crossbars with rack pads and tie downs.

Q:
How much weight can these hold? I am considering using them for a balance beam for dogs.

A:
Our Expansion Spacer Blocks for roof racks do not have a weight specification issued by their manufacturer. Their intended use is to let you add another level to a soft roof rack, so that you can transport two Stand-Up Paddle Boards (SUPs), and are there to protect the boards, so that there is something padded between the first SUP and the second one, to prevent board damage. The pair of foam spacers probably supports the weight of an average stand-up paddle board to some degree, to prevent it from damaging the board below. The weight of SUPs can vary greatly; some can be rather heavy, over 40 pounds. But it would be a question mark whether they could safely or properly work for your intended use, as they are essentially thick foam pads with a channel cut through them to run transportation tie-down straps.

Just what we needed to protect our stacked boards while on the roof rack or in the garage.
FYI: One order of foam spacers contains two pieces.

What can I say? This foam is strong. I place it between my two boards on roof and nothing budges! It's great. Also doubles as a cushion if I temp store my board on benches outside. I put the foam between board and bench. No sliding and board doesn't get beat up from bench.

Great product for transporting multiple paddleboards

Purchased these foam spacer blocks to allow me to carry two paddleboards on my roof rack. They work well and allow the paddleboards to be securely strapped and not shift when travelling.

Safe for my boards!
