Product Description

For serious SUP travelers, these travel car roof racks have everything you need. First, these roof racks may be the world's smallest roof racks as they fold up into a pouch that is only 6x4x3" and weighs less than 2 pounds, so they are great to toss into your SUP bag for the rental car on your next big trip.

This universal roof rack also has an innovative closure system that is more secure than other racks but allows your paddleboards to be more easily accessible. Most universal roof racks have 2 closures that tighten in 2 places - 1 under your car roof or roof bars and 1 on top around your paddleboards. This rack has only 1 closure that tightens in 1 place - under your car roof or roof bars - so you only need to tighten the racks in 1 place. Around the top of your paddleboards fits an S clip that you can open to load or unload your boards but that tightens automatically when you tigten the 1 closure under your roof or roof rack bars. Overall the system is simpler to secure your boards and quicker and easier to load and unload your boards!

SUP load capacity is not sacrificed by the innovative roof rack system or its low bulk and low profile - these racks can comfortably fit approximately 2 paddleboards, depending on board thicknesses.

Note that these roof racks do not come with pads so they maintain minimal bulk and because they are intended for traveling, with paddleboards in bags, as shown in the pictures. You could always pair the racks your existing roof rack pads, too, for full time use.

  • Racks folds up into pouch 6x4x3"
  • Fits approximately 2 paddleboards

Just bought this rack to use for a trip to Maui during which were planning on renting large downwinder boards and needed to be able to transport two '16 X 28" boards. I'm very picky about my gear and equipment and ended up being pleasently surprised by these very simple and inexpensive racks. They worked great even driving 55 mph with gusty 20 knt winds blowing through the area. The two rack straps roll up into a small size and neatly fit into the include plastic carrying case. I will travel with this rack all the time in the future when I am going to need to transport boards on rental cars at our destinations. Note that if you are going to use these to transport smaller surfboards that are not as wide as your typical paddle board, one would have to slightly modify the straps, as they seem to be primarily designed to accommodate a wider board, but it would still be doable in the field to make a quick modification to the straps.

Great product!!

Q:
I have a small car, a Honda Fit (hatchback). I am looking at buying a 10ft SUP (womens) though dont want to get roof racks fitted on my car. Would these straps do the job for transporting the board, probably no more than 1.5-2hrs drive on highways and local roads?

A:
This is a versatile and affordable Travel Roof Rack meant to fit a variety of cars, with or without existing roof racks. It should work for your Honda Fit that doesn't have a roof rack, as long as you have 4 opening doors or 2 opening front doors and 2 opening rear windows on your model.

It is not a padded system, though - its intended to be used with a board bag, as it was originally created for people traveling by plane to surf or SUP somewhere special, so their board was in a bag and they were using a rental car. A bag isn't required, but if you are not transporting your board in a bag, you would need some roof rack pads to use with this roof rack.

Q:
Can I use it for 2 SUP at once or I need two of these?

A:
Yes, this SUP travel rack can secure up to 2 SUPs at one time.

Q:
I have a 2010 Jeep Compass with flushed side rails but no cross bars. Would this be an option to transport my SUP?

A:
Yes, you should be able to run this removable SUP transportation rack over your flush rails and through your car doors (you do need to run it through 4 vehicle doorways). Most removable rack systems won't work well going over siderails, so this would be an option to consider.

Q:
The boards appear secure in the side-to- side direction with this rack, but how much movement is there in fore-aft direction?

A:
This transportation SUP rack secures your boards well as is, I haven't run into people having issues with movement of the boards back and forth on top of the car, but if you are driving a very compact car and have very large boards, or are travelling long distances, additional front and back tie-downs could be used for more security.
