Product Description

This is the premier floor stand surfboard display rack. It requires no mounting, which makes it very apartment or rental property friendly. The stand is made of high quality materials with a beautiful wood finish. It holds surfboards up to 30" wide, as well as wakeboards, mountain boards, kiteboards, snowboards, and more.

What sets this surfboard rack apart is the unique way it holds your surfboard securely in place. As pressure (your surfboard's weight) is applied down on the bottom board rest (you inserting your surfboard), the side holders rotate inward to hug your board tightly in place. The surfboard remains secure while in the stand, and you can easily lift it out and head to the beach with no effort. It's a great way to have your surfboard ready all the time.

If you are proud of your surfboard, you NEED this surf stand to properly display your stick! Make it a showpiece not only in the ocean but in your house as well.

  • Black padded board rest is 12" wide.
  • Circular base is 16" wide.
  • Height of base is 1"
  • Top of the board rest to floor is 3"-4"
  • Top of  arm to floor is 40-42"

Howdy! I’m Andrew from StoreYourBoard.com. I’m here to talk to you today about our Freestanding Wood Surfboard Rack. This is a great rack to display one of your favorite boards around your house. It’s very easy to use and it’s portable, making it a favorite among our customers. You’ll see the right rack right here. It’s in an attractive wood frame, great for displaying your board inside your house in your living room. It’s easy to use. It’s a three-piece mounting system. There’s a bottom piece that contacts the tail of your surfboard and that engages the two sidearm to apply pressure, holding your surfboard vertically.

I’m going to demonstrate how easy it is to use right now. I got a surfboard here. I’m going to insert it, applying gentle pressure. This causes the sidepieces to come up to support your surfboard like that. Very simple to use. One of the interesting drawbacks about this rack though is if you’ll notice the surfboard and the stand have a centerpiece so that means if you have your center fin in, it would come in contact with the stand, so the surfboard stand will not work with surfboards that have center fins. You can take your surfboard fins out whenever you want or you can use this rack to display more of a classic retired board. It may not be the rack for you for your everyday short board.

Once again, it’s this easy to use this rack. You’ll notice that the bottom piece and the sidepieces have foam paddings, so there’s really no worry about damaging your board while you’re racking and taking it out of the rack, and the wood finish makes it an attractive rack to again use to display your surfboard around your house. That’s what our customers are really using this rack for and that’s why it’s one of the popular racks on StoreYourBoard.com. So if you’re looking for a freestanding surfboard rack, check it out.

Q:
Can this surf stand accommodate an 11' stand up board?

A:
11 feet is starting to push the stability limit of this surf stand. If the floor is solid and level you should be OK in a low traffic area. You also want to make sure the board width is under 30 inches.

Q:
How does this surfboard stand accommodate the fin?

A:
Because the way the surf stand has the center support post, you will not be able to keep your center fin in while in this rack. You can keep the side fins in the surfboard for most common configurations. Most surfboard fins these days are easily removable so you can take the fin out and store in this surfboard rack.

Q:
Is it possible to leave the fin on and put the board on the surfboard stand a little over to one side? Since the board is used just about every day, it would awkward to take the fin on and off all the time.

A:
I think tilting it to the side, especially with a long board, would make it too unstable and liable to fall over.

I think the better option would be to put the board in with the fin pointing out, opposite the center post of the rack. The biggest thing to think about here is how much rocker (see image below) your longboard has. I know many longboards have fairly gentle rocker, meaning the board doesn't curve too much, in which case it should work. If the board has a lot of rocker/curvature then it has the potential to tip over.

Q:
What is the size of the base and are the back of the small holding arms padded?

A:
The base of this surfboard stand is 16” wide. It holds surfboards up to 30" wide. As for the holding arms on this stand, they have padding on the side where they clamp the board, providing a cushion for the rail or edge of a surfboard. Below is a side view of the stand where you can see the padding.

Q:
I have a surfboard that has a mosaic, and I am looking for a way to display it. It is heavy with the mosaic work. Will this stand support it?

A:
This free-standing display rack will hold a surfboard up to approximately 25 or 30 pounds. If the mosaic work is very thick (as well as heavy) and is in the area where the grabbing arms hold the board, I might be concerned that they could loosen the tiles, or possibly subject the mosaic work in those spots to wear and tear. This rack is fine holding a surfboard, and has padding where it holds the rails, but for a unique board with this type of work, that is something to consider. Another consideration for whether this might work for your board would be the width - the maximum width of a board this stand can hold is 30 inches. A really tall board might be a problem as well, given the added weight of the mosaic, that could potentially make it more unstable.

So it might be a question-mark whether this is the best display option for your board,

I would want to know the actual weight, height and width of your board, as well as how thick it is with the mosaic, before suggesting any other options for how to best display it.

Q:
I have a 8'10" longboard and 9' ceiling. How tall is the base that the board sits on?

A:
This display stand is not going to work for your ceiling and your longboard. The base will raise it up too high. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of free-standing options for longboards that would work for a 9 foot ceiling.

Q:
How about a 33 inch wide SUP? It's 12 feet long and 51/2 inch thick. Can make one that will work for those dimensions?

A:
This display stand only works for surfboards, and is not available for customized special order for SUPs. There really aren't many freestanding options to hold a SUP upright/vertical, so the the main one to consider for your paddle board is this Vertical SUP stand, that will hold a board up to 15' tall.

Q:
Ibuilt a 9' longboard out of wood, which combined with 6oz cloth is quite the heavy board. Will this stand be able to withstand heavy weight? My guess is it's close to 30lbs.

A:
This surfboard stand will hold a board up to about 25-30 lbs in weight, so yours may be a close call. It could be fine - but another thing for you too look at is how wide your board is. This stand only works for boards up to 30" wide. One other stand to consider would be this one: http://www.storeyourboard.com/freestanding-longboard-surf-rack/, which should be fine for a board at 30 lbs, and for most standard shaped longboards.

Q:
What are the MAXIMUM dimensions you recommend for this product?

A:
Thisfree-standing surfboard rackcan support a board up to 30" wide, and up to about 25-30 lbs in weight. There isn't a height maximum specified by the manufacturer, but generally, its probably best for boards under 8 feet tall at most (depending as well on the room where its being used, as it also raises up the board a bit on the stand, so a room has to be tall enough to display a board).

This stand is the only wooden upright worth considering. I bought it to display a smallish windsurf board. The board was a bit thick for the stand's side grips, but it worked out with a little coaxing.

Really cool rack!

Super cool product design. Well made. Took a second to figure out the wording of the directions but once sorted it only took a few minutes. I will say I was sad when the box came FILLED to the brim with foam peanuts. A major pain to clean up and for a surf company they may want to figure out better packing... environmentally I think the peanuts are not good and I see styrofoam at my local break. :( so be ready for heaps of those little suckers.

Product and service are amazing though! Buy this rack.

I did a lot of research and considered other options before buying your display stand for my tiled surfboard and I absolutely LOVE it! I'll admit it took me a little while to connect the two pieces but that's my fault. I couldn't make sense of the enclosed drawing. Once I understood the job it was easy.

The stand is great for displaying the surfboard. The light wood and black accents make it look very nice. The board we used for the stand was 7.5 feet. I would recommend a shorter board because I did not think the stand was sturdy enough. I was a little nervous having people sign the board because I was afraid it would tip over. If you are just storing your board then the stand is great!

We looked everywhere for an affordable vertical rack that worked but didn't take away from the board design. We finally found it. We love it. Easy to assemble. Quality product. Love showing friends and family how quickly and easy it is to take the board out for a paddle and then put it back in. We are using this stand in our living room to showcase the board we had all our friends and family sign on our wedding day. It's very special to us and glad it's off the floor but we can still ride it if we want.

We purchased this display stand for our Beach Valet service at L'Auberge Del Mar. The custom surf board from Solana Surf and a wooden hanging sign (Beach Valet - Ocean Air and Salty Hair) is displayed in the center of our property in the outdoor elements.

The display stand is durable, tasteful, and is extremely sturdy. The wind as well as high traffic area have not disturbed the board and it is beautifully displayed.

I recommend this display stand for anyone looking for a sturdy and uniquely designed display.

Also... StoreYourBoard.com was a pleasure to deal with. Quick delivery and exceptional follow up.

This free standing surf rack is awesome! I have it in the corner of my living room to display my Kelly Slater signed board. I was looking for a way to showoff this surfboard and this is the perfect way. When I saw the pictures online I wasn't overly impressed but I took a risk and ordered it anyway. My risk paid off handsomely. This rack is really high quality and looks great in my living room. Pretty cool way the arms grab the board as you set the board down on the bottom plate. I am thinking about getting another for my koa wood board.
