This rooftop surfboard rack can hold up to four surfboards. It has a 50in. wide center bar, padded feet and a hook mount design that will attach to modern style car, truck and suv doors.
This rack, once installed is very soild and acts like a factory installed rooftop rack. It is a good option for longer distance and higher speed drives to the ocean.
Rack works well especially going around local breaks. Use a lashing strap for freeway drives. Overal solid but strongly suggest using lashing strap to prevent rack failure.
Unfortunately it does not work on the chevy sonic. There aren't any 90 degree angles in which to secure the rack to the roof. It could be done with some modification to the rack. I feel it would reduce the integrity of the rack safety.
I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out. The other reviewer is correct that there are limited instructions but it was pretty straight forward to me how it went together. Once I got it strapped onto my car it is solid. I don't travel really far distances but I am typically going 20-40 miles to surf and haven't had any issues. One of my buddies has the wrap around strap type surf rack and this seems more secure and it also nice that you don't have the straps going through the inside of the roof of the car.
Don't know yet, haven't tried to put it together. No picture, no instructions, no nothing, just a box of parts!
