Product Description

Surf? Have a Truck? This is the rack you need. This surfboard tailgate rack straps onto your truck's tailgate and then straps your surfboard / longboard on top of the pad to keep it secure on the drive to your favorite break.

The rack has a universal truck fit because of the adjustable straps that encircle your tailgate. The strap that holds your surfboard has a quick release for and easy access to your stick.

Many surfers with trucks are guilty of just throwing their boards in the bed of the truck but those are the same people who have chips, dings, and get waterlogged surfboards. Treat your surfboard with respect and get a tailgate rack.

Q:
I have an 11'6" board. Will this product work with a board that long?

A:
At 11'6", your board is starting to get a bit too long for this truck rack. It would depend on whether you have an extended bed, whether it could work. If it helps for reference, the main picture in our listing shows a 10'6" board in a fairly small truck bed. So with a smaller truck bed, your board is probably too long, and the only other option would be a truck roof rack.

Q:
I have a 10'6" SUP and an F-150 with a 5'6" bed. With this truck bedcapacity, is my SUP too long to use your truckbed rack product?

A:
Its a close call - that size truck bed is going to leave half your board hanging out of the truck bed, and while this tailgate rack secures the board, it may or may not be very comfortable, which can vary by user/board. However, you can see a picture of a board that size in a small truck bed on our listing, to give you an idea of what it looks like. The straps are going to secure your board, but you probably want to think about what type of roads you are traveling on, and at what speeds, to consider how safe/secure it will feel in that position in your truck.

Q:
How exactly does it strap into your tailgate? My paddleboard is 9 ft and I have a short bed truck. It appears these straps go over the tailgate and then through the bottom of the open tailgate to end up back in the bed of the truck. Is that right?

A:
Yes, you are right in how this truck tailgate system works - the straps attaching the system to your tailgate go around and through it (and then separate straps go around your board to secure it). For a small truck bed and a fairly large board you might want to picture what that will look like - to get an idea of how much of your board will be outside of the truckbed. We have a picture of a 10'6" board in a smallish truck bed on our listing, to give you an idea what it looks like.

Current flat spell in Fl. so haven't actually used yet, but mounted easily enough and appears to be ok.

Great product for the price, works well. It did not have any instructions with it. But the product holds my board in a stable position and takes very little time to install.

The rack is made very cheaply and slips off the tailgate. I did a lot of modifying and it now works as I want.

Awesome!

We used this the weekend after it came in when we took a trip down to the OBX. He LOVED this gift and it was relatively easy to connect to his tailgate. Again, durable, as most of your products are.

the "belly seam" that goes over the tailgate is unstitched, so the nylon will fray. i'm not sure if it was intended to be left wide open underneath in order to access the padding but it's a bad design and looks shoddy. if so, a zipper should've been incorporated for the purpose of durability. the most lame feature of this thing is the strap length. it fits my 10'0" surfboard ok but couldn't do two boards. it can't even make it all the way around my paddleboard because it's just shy by a few inches; pretty skimpy. the buckles are real good. they clamp tight.

This surfboard truck rack is sweet. Once you figure out how the straps go around your tailgate it is easy to just strap in your surfboard and you know it is secure in your bed. Works perfectly for my 9'6" in my F-150.
