Q:
I'm not certain which type of repair kit to use on my Channel Islands board. I’ve read all sorts of conflicting views on whether to use polyester or Epoxy Resin repair kits. Is there any sure-fire way of telling so I don’t do more damage to this board?
A:
It is our understanding one normally would use the version of the ding kit that matches what your board is made out of - polyester or epoxy. So if your board is epoxy, you would go with one of the epoxy kits. If not, you would go with the standard type. There is one available that is supposed to work for either polyester or epoxy boards, as an alternative, its uses a UV curing resin. Other than that, we don't have any guidance on what other issues you may run into or have read/heard about.

Great product. Fixed a ripped out fun box. First batch seemed to harden fine. My top coat with fiber never hardened but I may have not put enough hardener in. MAKE SURE YOU PUT CORRECT RATIO WHEN MIXING! My top coat is still gooey and I'm going to scrape/ sand off and hopefully have enough to put on that final coat ... will have to find more fiber or just use the small amount I have left... also try to avoid the cold weather... i was anxious to do repair and temp creeped up to just above 60. This may have been the problem.
