Product Description

The Kayak Wall Rack from Talic is built in the USA from beautiful Baltic Birch & Ash wood, stainless steel hardware, and high quality webbing. The unique feature of this kayak wall rack is the 2" wide strap that actually holds the hull of your kayak. Instead of the rigid metal or wood mounting surfaces of most kayak racks, the webbing perfectly conforms to your boats hull. This makes the kayak rack hold almost all kayaks and also holds them very securely as the strap conforms to hold your kayak and its weight evenly.

The design of the rack is to hold your kayak on on its side, which is the strongest part of the kayak and also keeps it compactly tucked against your wall instead of hanging out into the middle of your garage or room. This is great for storing your large, bulky kayak. Note, while this kayak wall rack is designed to fit most kayak types, it may not be suited well for some deep, oversized kayaks. Please check the dimensions of this rack (below) and the dimensions of your boat to ensure this rack will work well for you.

When you are not using the kayak rack you can also fold the arms up and out of the way, another space savings technique. Each rack comes in pairs to hold one kayak. If you have more than one kayak buy a few sets and stack them up on a wall!

This rack comes complete with heavy duty hardware, straps, and full installation instructions.

  • When open: 17" tall x 17" deep
  • When folded: 21" tall x 6.5" deep
  • Capacity = 100 lbs
  • Includes heavy duty 4" lag bolts and washers for mounting

Today, I’m going to show you how to use the Talic Kayak Tilt. There’s some great features on the system. One is that you can store just about every kayak around on these tilts. It’s particularly good for sit-on-tops because the width of your boat goes vertically close to the wall and not horizontally out in your garage. If you live in a warm climate, this is a very good system because all the weight of the boat is resting on the gunnel, which is one of the strongest parts of the boats. This means that there is little chance that your boat is going to become misshapen.

The Kayak Tilt is strong enough to easily hold boats that are 100 pounds or less. The system is easy to assemble and install. We’ve even gotten reports from some of our customers that it’s taken them as little as 20 to 30 minutes from the time that the UPS driver delivers it until the time they had their boat resting in it. We make this only as singles because boats come in such wide variety of widths, that’s why you can place your Kayak Tilts at an optimum distance apart from each other so that it will suit your collection of boats. If you use your Kayak Tilt outdoors, be sure to coat them with some sort of finish. I’d recommend a deck seal, something that penetrates the wood and not just sits on top.

Easy to install and looks so much nicer than metal!

Ordered two sets for two vastly different sized kayaks and these work great! We have a quite wide fishing kayak and many of the racks out there were unable to handle the width. This rack does so easily and securely. Also like that when not in use, we can fold the arms out of the way. Great product with a reasonable price.

I mounted this kayak rack in my garage and it looks great and works even better. I love how the strap conforms around the hull of my kayak so I know it is securely in place and that it is not scratching or damaging my boat. All my paddling buddies who see it want to get one for their house as well.

Q:
Will these wall racks hold my fishing kayaks - a Jackson Kayak Big Rig and a Big Tuna?

A:
While this wall rack fits most sit-on-top and sit-in style kayaks, your fishing kayaks are most likely will not sit properly in this rack, due to their very large size/depth. If their weight is within this rack's capacity specifications (100 lbs) they could be held by it, but they might need an additional strap for extra stability -- so we would not recommend this rack as the best option for your particular kayaks.

Q:
How far apart should these racks be mounted?

A:
Our kayak wall rack's arms can be set at whatever distance you require to hold your kayak. Note, you should be mounting into wall studs, so that is a factor in where you mount the arms. Then you also can use a tip found in our mounting & installation guide, under "rack spacing", which is the rule of 3rds or 4ths. Based on how long your kayak is, you want the each of the rack arms to be placed at about 1/3 or 1/4 points on the length boat, with 1/3rd or 2/4ths in the middle between the two arms. If your kayak was 6ft long, and you used the rule of 4ths, then you would have the rack arms land 1.5 ft in on both sides of your boat, to give you an idea. This kayak rack comes complete with all required mounting hardware (heavy duty lag bolts) and mounting/installation instructions.

Q:
We have two 9' paddle boards we'd like to store on here instead. Would they fit and be able to lean toward the wall adequately without tipping over?

A:
I would be concerned about using this Kayak Rack for most SUPs, since SUPs can run so wide. The length of your boards wouldn't be a problem, since you can set the arms up at whatever distance you need to support the length, but a SUP may not sit well in the rack due to its width. In a wood rack, I would recommend the SUP HangOut, which has arms that can be set at an adjustable angle, and are longer to provide more support for the board -- but the SUP rack also has the strapping system to cradle the board on its side. It is also available in a two board system here
