Product Description

single-soft-wrap-rax-inset.jpgThis surfboard car roof rack is perfect for pretty much any car you drive. The universal fit is accomplished by using a strap system that goes around the roof of your car and is adjustable to get the proper fit for your vehicle.

Once the surfboard rack is secured to your car you can then place your surfboards on top of the soft pads and strap them onto the rack with heavy-duty aircraft grade quick release buckles for a secure ride and easy access to your boards once you arrive at the ocean. This rack can hold up to 3 surfboards or 2 longboards stacked on top of each other.

Heavy Duty Aircraft Grade Buckle

universal-surfboard-car-rack-double.jpg

  • 20 inch pad length
  • 3-1/2 inch pad width
  • 2 inch pad height
  • 48 inch board strap length
  • 94 inch roof tie down strap length
Q:
Can the straps be used on a car with a sunroof?

A:
The universal surfboard car rack should work fine over most sun roofs. Something else to consider is that it works a little easier overall for 4 door vehicles, though it can work for a 2 door one.

Q:
How long are the straps that go inside the vehicle?

A:
The straps on the Surfboard Rack that attach to the vehicle are approximately 78" long (6.5'). Keep in mind that these straps come off the ends of the center pad which is another 28" long. If you are measuring your total distance around your roof (use a piece of string) this rack will work if you come up with a number 100" or under.

Q:
How do I attach the surfboard roof rack?

A:
There are two sets of straps on each of the rack pads. The straps that come off the ends of the black foam piece are what is used to go around your car roof. These will be the longer straps. With both doors/windows open wrap the staps around the roof and then inside the car through the doors. The strap goes into the metal buckle and you pull it tight. This straps the rack to the car. Then the strap and buckle on top of the black foam piece is what you use to strap the surfboard onto the rack. There are two foam pads, one for the front or your car and one for the back. Once you get both of those on the car, then lay your surfboard on the foam pads and then use the other straps to strap the surfboard to the rack pads.

Q:
I hear a loud noise when this rack is installed on my car. My surfboard seems to be secure but the noise is annoying, how can I get it to stop?

A:
This is most likely caused by the passing wind over the straps. One tip that usually works is to put one twist in the strap. Usually you only need this on the strap that goes around the car. The twist eliminates the whistling that comes from the strap basically acting like a musical reed as the wind passes by.

Another thing to keep in mind, these universal surfboard strap racks are not the best racks for high speed long distance trips. If you are traveling hundreds of miles at highway speeds you should probably consider a hard surfboard roof rack like this.

Q:
How many pads come with this, when I buy it?

A:
This soft car rack for surfboards comes with two pads, one for the front of the car and one for the back.

Q:
Does this work on a bmw with a sun roof, 4 door?

A:
Our universal/removable roof rack should be fine for a 4 door BMW; you would need to work around your sun roof as you don't want to lay the pads on top of that, but that is usually doable. You would need to place the one set in front of the sunroof. the one that would run through your front doors, and then the other in the rear. You might want to take a look at your vehicle to picture if there is enough room for the front pads in front of the sunroof.

Q:
Can this product hold a funboard or long board?

A:
This removable surfboard roof rack can hold a couple of shortboards, but for longboards you may want to consider this double rackor this one.

Q:
I drive a Ford Focus Hatchback, 2014. Will this product attach to my car? I usually drive a short distance but will occasionally be driving to the ocean or gulf (about 50 -90 miles).

A:
This Universal Roof Rack works for most vehicles that have 4 doorways, which the bottom straps run through to secure the system under your car roof. The main thing I would be concerned about is if your model and year Ford has an antenna in back, that could be in the way of your board. The pads will be elevating your board about 4-5 inches, to give you an idea of whether any antenna may be in the way. These are a fine solution for transporting a board short distances as described.

Q:
Can this work on a golf cart top made of the hard plastic? I take my golf cart to the beach and would love to be able to strap my surf board on to it.

A:
I can't recommend this removable roof rack for your golf cart, simply because it wasn't designed for that use, and the golf cart is too small to have the boards securely fastened ontop. Normally, the straps run through 4 doors of a car, and then secure under the roof top there - and it requires the 4 doorways because a car that does not have 4 doors is too small for system to be spaced out properly to secure your boards safely in transit. So there are likely to be several issues trying to make it work safely ontop of your cart.

We have used this on our Camry and Suburban and loved it! Easy to use once you figure it out. The directions are pathetic and a online instructional video of how to use it would be helpful, but the product itself is great.

I'm very pleased how well and easy it was for me to put on top of my car. Although instructions were pretty hard at first but I just searched a YouTube video and everything worked out great :)

Good product, but as a beginner I found the instructions very confusing. And the illustrations on the package look like children's finger painting. But they seem to work just fine!

When in place with board is makes a load noise and without the board it makes an even loader noise. It works to carry our boards but the noise needs to be worked out.

Surf Rack - Fits All My Cars!

I needed a surf rack for my car and also fit my wife's car too. I was skeptical on the universal fit they talk about. It fits both our cars and we put it on my buddy's Ford Escape no problem as well. All you do is strap the rack around the ceiling of the car so I would assume it fits almost anything.

It holds my surfboards pretty secure to the roof. I don't drive any highways to the beach but I am going 55-60 with no problems.
